  • Crosswords...

Attempting to do a crossword but stuck on a couple of clues. Anyone any good at them?

Duke not well coming up for flag: D?O??

Break stones into pieces on crest of hill: ?E??

The last letter of each of these is the same as they cross there.

    Droop & Peak?

If its droop then "peak" should be ending in a p.

Or conversely if peak then "droop" should end in a k....

OK - definitely Droop........'not well coming up' is 'poor' reversed, added to the 'D' = droop. So that's right. Have to get Websters out for the other one!

          Try.....

DRILL & FELL They'll only work it whatever clue gave you the 'o' is wrong though.

It's probably way out, I like crosswords but not cryptic clues.

I had a feeling it could be droop but couldn't think the reasoning... It's a start anyway.
