  • Packham vs Oddie

I have enjoyed watching Springwatch in the past but is it just me that has noticed a happier atmosphere during the programmes.
Obviously I have had a crush on Chris Packham, who has taken over from Bill Oddie, since his Really Wild show days but I think he is a great addition to the programme. Kate Humble is fantastic and she seems to be alot more jovial this series.
    Anybody else enjoying the show?

I've not been watching it this time as can't abide Bill Odie's miserable face and attitude, however if he has now gone.......

Ok don't faint but I didn't know who this Packham guy was (not growing up this country is my excuse!) but he is much better than Bill O (can't shorten it more than that) and the programme is better for it too!

Apparently Bill O is suffering from depression which is why he can't do the prog but although I hope he gets better soon I prefer the new guy!

      I love Springwatch!

Chris Packham is great. I didn't see springwatch tonight, so I don't know how it differs with Chris as the replacement for Bill. I always thought the Really Wild Show suffered when Chris left! I did meet him in a park in Southampton once when I was a student.

I like Chris Packham he's great but Kate is getting a bit annoying she's too smiley all the time perhaps it's because she's sitting next to Chris
I started off with nothing and I've still got most if left.

I was just saying to OH last night that it was a much better programme with the new person.

Hehe, I agree but its better than her sat in an embarrassed grimace as Bill dubs over the sounds of mating chaffinchs.

I must admit I prefer Chris Packham too, although I liked him blond! He's very cute. While I'm sorry to hear about Bill Oddie's depression I did find his comments a bit grimmacing last series.

I prefer him with his natural darker hair.

Whilst I think Bill Oddie has become a grumpy old man of late (and depression being the reason, then I feel for him) but I'm sorry but I find Kate Humble a bit false with all her smiling and as for Chris Packham, I dont really like him much either and never have, blond or brown!

I shall go and hide now!

Did anyone see the piccie they showed this evening of Chris Packham when he had longer blond hair? I'd forgotten he looked like that I remember him when he had more spiky blond hair. And what about all those kites! Amazing. When we were up near Llangorse Lake a couple of months back we were pretty pleased with ourselves for seeing 9, so to see all those together was brilliant.

                        Another vote for Packham!
I remember him from the Really Wild Show days and then he seemed to disappear off the radar for a bit.
Bill Oddie is getting to be a bit of a grumpy old man of late (saw him being interviewed on a programme a couple of months ago, and he was really awkward and rude), but hopefully the depression rumour isn't true, that's not nice for anyone.

I've never really liked Kate Humble (especially on Animal Park, with Posh-Boy Fogle), but she has turned into a bit of a school-girl-with-a-crush since Packham rocked up.

                          I love Chris Packham!
Many years ago a boyfriend of mine who was / is a freelance ornothologist (yep, now you know how I know about those baby birds!) arranged a surprise for me and got a pal of his to fly us from London to the South Coast to visit a site where some rare bird had been seen. As an 18 year old, it was all very romantic and special and what made it sooooooo much better was that when we finally arived at the hide, we were squashed into the dark space with several other people Chris Packham included . I never confessed to my then BF what actually made the day so special!
