  • Primeval filmed locally!!

So Im sat last night watching one of the best programmes on at the moment, Primeval on ITV(with the goooorgeous Jason Flemyng) and low and behold I see my local town hall in the background and the inside of a pub Ive been in!!Im sat there going 'Oh my God, I recognise that'!!!
If you watched it, it was the scene when the Knight went down an alley outside the Green Man pub, my local town hall was in the background and they filmed inside the connected pub.
This pub and a shot of the town hall was also in a Mia Farrow film in the 1970's.

I told my parents and apparently they were in town while it was happening about 6 months ago but didnt know what it was being filmed for.

    How exciting huh!

Has any filming gone on locally to you?

ooh how exciting, I was watching and thought it looked like a lovely pub (mnd you the Green Man was what really drew my attention)

When I worked for London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, many, many years ago we had a film crew come to the Civic Centre to film something (I think it was Piorot) as the main hall and swivel doors were very in keeping with the settings used.

My in-laws have just had some WW2 filming done outside their house in Newport, Wales, MIL thinks it was something to do with either Doctor Who or Torchwood (both of which are filmed in nearby Cardiff) she said it was very strange having all these tanks and army men running around outside!!!!

We were in France visiting a quaint Medieval town Oooooing and Ahhhhhing. We went on the old stone bridge to drink in the view......and realised the wall was fibreglass. Then we saw some men rolling up the cobbled street! I mean really rollong it up. It was a painting on canvas. Then we saw the shop fronts were fakes.
They had been filming Cyrano de Bergerac with GĂ©rard Depardieu.

Some scenes for the new Robin Hood film (Russel Crowe) are soon to be filmed here in S.Wales, as well as some for the next Harry Potter film, down at Freshwater West beach.

For those that have read the HP books, it's for the Shell Cottage parts.
I went to see it last week, it looks great....hope my photo works on here lol

Well, back in the 1990's I lived In South London, across the road from the Fire Station where they based "London's Burning", and many of the old Thames side warehouses in the surrounding streets also featured.

Going back even further (1970's), there was a **** Emery film and a house in the Stret where we lived was a setting (home for James Maynard Kitchener Lampwick I think!).

I now live in Burnley, and the Coach house Tea Rooms next to Towneley Hall features in the film Whistle Down the Wind (the one with Hayley Mills) - though the recent revamp of the building makes it unrecognisable.

Hetty Wainthropp investigates also had its title sequence filmed here, and the Weavers Triangle Visitor Centre features, and part of our house too...

The "university" in the first series of Primeval was CEME, just down the road from me.

But that's not as cool as all the places I've just read about from you guys!
                      Cheers,

West Bay where we used to live in Dorset, was where Hugh Fearnly Whittingstall did his series. Weren't there when he was actually filming but it was great watching the telly and being just up the road from where it was.

Oh yes I remember now, it's right on the beach, the candle procession goes past there on Bonfire Night and fireworks display on the beach (could someone remind me why we moved please?!) I stepped on Nick Berry's foot once, does that count?

Lovejoy used to be filmed in the village where I grew up and lots of the other surrounding places too and we'd always play 'spot the location' when it was on. Mind you, it used to be a real pain when you had to wait for filming to stop before you could get past to go home. All around here is still referred to Lovejoy Country even though it must be about 15-20 years since it finished!
