  • Another fruity question!

I've recently been told that eating gratefruit is really good for you as it encourages you body to burn more fat, or something to that effect - does anyone know if that actually the case (before I go an buy a sackload of them!)?

    Cheers,
    El

This was in the new 5 years ago. There's some chemical in grapefruit that apparently lowers insulin levels which then makes you feel less hungry. I'm not sure I would go totally over to grapefruit though!

I prefer the See Food (sorry, Sea Food) diet myself, hence my twelve and a half stone.

Yea, I saw the bbc version of that this morning!

I've started eating grapefruit, and have been eating healthily and exercising, which has helped so far, so we'll see if the grapefruit helps!

....If I disappear without a trace, please assume I've died of a grapefruit associated blood clot!

I think they are meant to be good for you, but I am always a bit wary of these miracle food stories (everything in moderation is what my Mum says lol)
One thing I know about them is my Dad who had a heart attack 5 years ago, and is on lots of pills is not allowed to eat them No idea why, but hey are obviously not good for everyone!

The best diet I have ever tried was a diet they used in hospitals to get people to lose wait quickly before surgery. You follow the diet for 3 days and eat sensible for the other 4 each week. I used to to this two weeks on and two weeks off, and was amazed at how much I lost, especially as I never really felt hungry during the day. The diet called for half a grapefruit each morning, so maybe there is something in it?
