  • ebay win

I just won a velvet skirt on ebay.I just had to share that with you.
For some reason I have the idea that Im going to be liking velvet while the weather is cold.I went to a charity shop, found exactly what I wanted but my curvey size 16 hips would in no way squeeze into the size 14 skirt that was available.
So, I took a chance and won a size 16 skirt on ebay.

Will it fit?will I ever wear it? will I wear it on new years eve? am I actually going anywhere on new years eve?...no Im not...but I live in hope.

I found a gorgeous deep midnight blue velvet jacket in a charity shop too but it ha worn patches on the elbow so I talked myself out of buying it.

I shall let you know if the skirt fits.

oh sounds great! I bought quite a few t shirts in the summer on ebay, you can get quite unusual ones (print) that would have taken me a while to find on the high street.

On your own or not, you should wear it on New Year's eve!
      Bead Shop, 91 Liverpool Road, Penwortham, Preston, PR1 0QB, Lancashire. Mon-Fri 10am-5pm, Sat 10am-4pm, Sunday 11am-3pm.

I agree - I recently had a heart to heart with another forum member who made me realise (in a good way) that I am far too dowdy and that I should spend more time on me just making me feel good. I don't "dress up" nearly often enough. She made me think that it's not just a chore to take time out to dress nice, do my hair, put on a bit of make up and jewellery for no reason at all - it actually does make you feel better/good about yourself.

So go for it - dress up whenever you feel like it even if its for no reason other than for you. What better reason is there?

PS - Thank you Chris - you really did make me think - not sure how long it will last though!

I sometimes buy clothes on ebay and if they don't fit I just resell them on ebay!!
I have had a few good finds and a few bad, but they are all far cheaper than the high street (well maybe not in the sales today)

            Hope it fits you!!!

Good for you, I always try to make an effort when I step outside the front door and thats usually only to take the children to school or go shopping. I dont do it for anyone else, only me!!!

Yes, please let us know if it fits, I love ebay, I bought a lovely top on there, which I wouldnt have found in the shops. I like buying lots of crafty bits on there aswell.

My daughter has been doing really well selling her little hand crafted bags of hugs and kisses. So much so that she had enought money to buy everyone something for Christmas out of her "earnings". (pic on my profile)

I received the skirt today ans it fits!!!!!I have to hold my tummy in a bit but it 99% fits me and looks rather nice.

Plus I went shopping for 3 hours yesterday and bought 1 top for £3(despite having £65 worth of HMV vouchers), I realised last night it will look fab with the skirt so thats a happy accident.

That sounds exactly like me - I tend to either live in jeans, combats or tracky bottoms, none of which are very flattering or take much effort.

Our friends have cancelled on us tonight but I've decided to make the effort and get dressed up for ME and having put on my new dress, my (very) high heels and done my hair and make up, I actually feel more confident and girly

I might have to do this more often lol.

Seahore... I'm glad to hear that your skirt fits and well done on your 'accidental' purchase - I'm sure you'll look fab!!!

Well Ive been called some things in my time!!..hehe.

I keep thinking about the skirt and how I can make the look even more edwardian, I may add a black bow and Ive thought up the right necklaces to go with it and I have a deep brown fake fur coat that would look good, plus to make it more modern il wear footless tights and suedey heeled black shoes..now all I need is a prince to take me somewhere where people will be accepted if they are dressed like an edwardian throwback.
