  • October Plenty Festival - London - Sunday 26 October 2008

October Plenty this year is on Sunday 26 October 2008, from 12noon on the Bankside outside Shakespeare's Globe

This is a wonderful traditional Autumn harvest celebration held annually in Southwark. Beginning on the Bankside, by Shakespeare's Globe, October Plenty mixes ancient seasonal customs and theatre with contemporary festivity, joining with historic Borough Market, Southwark. Festivities begin at the Globe, with a performance by the Shakespearean actors, The Lion's Part, then it's off to Borough Market in procession including the Hobby Horse and Berry Man. At the market there'll be more performances, and apple tasting, ducking for apples, and all manner of other good things, including the dismantling and distribution of the Harvest Queene's plenty.

It's completely FREE to attend, and enormous fun - They let me join in last year as a wandering pedlar, selling my wares from a basket, but I'll be away this year and so can't go. But I thoroughly recommend it!
