Did the dogs keep returning carrying the south pole thinking it was a game of fetch or something ?

My friend told me last night that apparently they were only re-enacting the south pole expedition so they used the north pole as dogs are no longer allowed to be used on the south pole.

Something I dont recall hearing about.Why didnt they say that in each episode, they repeated a load of other info!

As much as I enjoyed the programme, Im totally confused!!

The whole expedition was about them going to the South Pole.

Yet last night they had completed their expedition and 5 hours later they were in a hotel in Iceland!!!

Now i know my geography isnt good but how can they get from the south pole to Iceland in 5 hours!!?
