  • Obsessed with Brokeback Mountain

As the title says, I'm obsessed with the film. I taped it when it was on the tv a couple of weeks ago & watched it for the first time last week. The 1st time I saw it I couldn't believe he was killed for being Gay & I questioned everything, cried of course. Went to bed thinking about it & woke up thinking about it. Thought I need to see this film again so bought the dvd on ebay. I rec'd the film about 5 days ago & have watched it everyday since, in chunks though I must add as I do work, shame as it cuts down my viewing time of the film. I well up everytime I think of the wasted 20 yrs of the affair. I started to watch it earlier & have finished watching it upstairs on the pc. I don't know what is wrong with me. Is there anyone out there ( please say I'm not the only one like this ) who is obsessed with a film. I think I need help or something. Hubby hasn't watched it as it's not his thing, he likes blood & guts & action movies. Sorry this is long but needed to get it off my chest. Thanks for reading. Linda

Yes - 'Apocalypse Now' gets me every time

Must say we have B Mount on the DVD shelf but ive not watched it - i think after this thread ill give it a go.

Given that it mentions a mountain - is it like 'Heartbreak ridge' or 'Hamburger Hill' ?

          All the best

            hi Steve

don't know about either of those films I'm afraid but it's a love story between 2 young men & it starts in the 60's & they continue to see each other over 20yrs, won't say more than that incase you watch it. I've already seen a bit this morning as I was having breakfast but will watch the rest later as I must go & do a couple of hrs work now. I watched it again yesterday & found out something I missed all the previous times, so sad. If you watch it, enjoy, the scenery is great too. Linda

Its great that your finding new things in it.I like to see the characters and story unfolding.

Like with Truly Madly Deeply.I saw it loads years ago when it first came out. Then saw it again recently, only then did I realise Alan Rickmans character was pushing Juliet Stevensons charcater away on purpose.

                      Hello,

Well, just finished it. Hmm, not sure what i thought of it really. I do like happy endings, and of course the film was never really set up for one of those!

Would have been nice if they could have ridden off into the sunset together.

It was a good film to make though - lets hope it goes a small way towards changing attitudes in society - with so much hate in the world im happy for people to find love wherever they can.

Im not sure if the wife has watched it yet - ill have to ask for her opinion - given that my opinion rates a poor second to hers on most subjects!

                      All the best

                        glad you watched it

well at least you watched it. Like you I wish they could have lived together and been happy, but that would have been "a whole other film " as the saying goes. I've watched it, Yet Again today, can't understand the effect this has had on me. Anyway, well done you.
                        cheers Linda.
