  • And breathe...

I am now officially on leave for 2 whole weeks and it's about time I came up for air. At the moment I'm doing some final preparations for a jewellery party on Sunday like inventory and pricing (something I'm not very good at).

I haven't quite decided exactly what I'm going to be doing with some of this free time. Definitely spend some good quality time with the kids. Just a few things on my list of things to do is sorting out my studio. It can definitely do with a bit of a clean and I'm sure there are hundreds of beads and bits of wire lying on the floor. I also want to vamp it up a bit more with some funky art work, just personalise it a bit more. It is my own space after all so I can do with it what I like We're off to the seaside for a few days too and I can't wait. I'll be taking some nice photos of the kids too for the house.

Oh and I'll definitely be doing some reading! Something I haven't done that much of since my little girl was born 7 months ago. So I'll be paying the library a visit - any recommendations would be much appreciated. I love Haruki Murakami's books, but have read them all. I'm not quite sure how much jewellery I'll be making in the next 2 weeks. I really want to try and rest and take some time out. I'm not allowed to take anything relating to jewellery making with me when we go on holiday. I might have to sneak something in though, just in case. But I'll definitely be taking a notebook along wherever I go in case inspiration strikes when I least expect it. And I'm hoping for some interesting bead finds.

And when I get back, I'll be making some more of these chunky charm bracelets. I love the combination of the amethyst, topaz & amber Swarovski crystals. And the silver foiled rose hearts have so much depth.

This bracelet is available from my website & DaWanda shop.

I have read a few books recently which i have really enjoyed. Time Traveller's Wife, The Other Boleyn Girl and The Boleyn Inheritance. Now I'm almost through The Lollipop Shoes by Joanne Harris and it follows on from her earlier book Chocolat, it's a good holiday read. Enjoy your time out.

Ooo, sounds like you've got enough to keep you busy with in your free time, but it's nice to have things to do, give you a break from the norm.

I'm just finishing re-reading The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje which is wonderful and, surprisingly, very easy to read. I was given a collection of short stories edited by Haruki Murakami, and including one by him, for my birthday and that was pretty good too. I can also recommend anything by Anne Tyler.

Hope you come up with some suitable reading material and enjoy the break!

I have no recommendations for books as I am more into si-fi, but have a great holiday.
If you are going to the beach look out for some beach glass or pretty shells though.

The book thief is a great read, I usually read absolute trash, but this one is the first "proper" book I have read for a few years.

Time travellers wife is good too

Have a nice holiday and good luck with your jewellery party
