  • Knights, Toads and Ladybirds

I have been so busy this past week so I have been suffering from "blogger's remorse"
    .
Therefore, I shall make up for it in one post!
    .
    I was recently asked to make a large wall-hanging for a boy's medieval-theme bedroom.
    .
His mum gave me some very specific instructions, which is always a bit scary in case the end-product doesn't look like how it's being imagined. At least when it's my own design I can play until it looks right.

I pondered for a while on how it would be hung against the wall and decided this was the easiest way:
    .

    .
It's quite large and I've asked for a photograph when it's in situ.
    .
We also had a visitor to the garden at the weekend in the shape of Mr Toad.
    .

    .
(I'm assuming he's a toad as we have no water in our garden?)
    .
He's very welcome to stay as frogs and toads are partial to eating slugs!
    .
Toby had a homework project last week to make or draw a house for an (imaginary) insect of his choosing, so after much thinking he settled upon making a house for a ladybird.
    .
In went the grass clippings from the lawn, rocks and leaves. I glued some ladybird buttons onto one of the rocks and we added some of my fabric flowers so the ladybirds would have something to eat and he also made me add a bee button for a finishing touch.
    .

    .
I printed out some pictures for him to colour in for the lid so his teacher would know what was inside.
    .

    .

He was so proud of his creation, he was ready for school yesterday at 8:20 and wanted to get going to show it off ... bless him.
    .
He has informed me he wants to make lots more houses to keep at home so have we got any more empty shoe-boxes?
    .
What's a girl to do other than go shoe-shopping!
    .
Aren't I the best mum ever, being prepared to go shoe-shopping just so he can have lots of empty boxes?
    .

The sheild is great and I'm sure your client will be delighted with it - any little boy would think his own coat of arms is fantastic!

Loved the Wall Hanging, nice rich red - very authentic. Any young lad would be pleased to get it.

Loved small boy's Ladybird habitat. By the way, what did you say your name was - Emelda Marcos???
