  • Clay/ceramic sculptor needed - car shaped butter dish/ piggy bank request

    Hi there,

I am looking for someone that might be interested in helping me make a butter dish and/or a piggy bank in the shape of a car/truck.

I have a fairly unique car and would like someone to carve out a clay mould so that it could be made in ceramic with a view to slip casting. I would like to make a number of them with a view to selling to the other people with this limited production vehicle. It's a pretty easy shape but I have no knowledge or skills regarding clay and hoped there might be someone willing to help.

Please let me know if you are interested. I'd ideally prefer someone in London so we could meet but am happy to converse via the internet/phone if that's not an option.

Thanks very much and Merry Christmas!

    Regards,

    Mark

Your best bet would be for someone to make a clay model, then cast a plaster of paris mould over it. The mould could then be used for slip casting, however as I'm sure you know, you do have to be careful of undercuts in moulds otherwise the moulded item will get stuck in there! I'd offer to help myself but I don't have much experience of making moulds (all my work is handmade from scratch).
