  • Bookkeeping programs

    Hello,

I searched the site for information about this but got no result so I created a new thread.

What kind of bookkeeping programs do you all use and can you recommend me one. I have a mac. And of course I would like it to be free or something that is not too expensive at least.

    Hi Helen

Sorry I don't know of any that are free.

I'm a PC user and I use Quickbooks Pro 2006. It's not cheap but it's a fantastic piece of software. My version will even keep stock inventory and allow you to build assemblies.

    It's brill but very expensive.
I'm sure others will come on here and let you know what they use.

Most free ones are limited but it all depends on what you need it to do..

My book keeping is 1 paypal account, 1 credit card and 1 bank account.. That's all I need in the vertial world

You can also download what's called open soure code for websites and do it all online http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ope...ce+bookkeeping

I use a package called MYOB (Mind Your Own Business) Business Basics. It is specifically designed for small business owners and assumes no or very little accounting or book-keeping knowledge so everything is geared towards spending cash and invoicing clients. You really don't need to know anything about debits or credits! It will produce a profit & Loss report and a balance Sheet for you.

I actually use a more advanced version of this programme in my day job (MYOB Accounting Plus) but there is no need for this to run a small business unless you happen to need specifica fetures say foreign currency transactions.

You can try a 30 day free trial to see how you get on.

        Hope this helps

I just use excel and so do the accountants where i work. Some companies that we do accounts for use sage but unless you get it right we have to spend alot of time correcting it making there bill higher than it would have been if we started from scratch.
