  • Advice Setting Up Online Shop

    Hi

I'm in the process of setting up an online shop selling craft products. I am currently working part time but am being made redundant and should finish my employment in the next couple of months. I've purchased stock and set up a website but that's it so far.

I need some advice on what I need to do to become self employed. I have no idea what I am supposed to do! I've kept receipts for stock and business set up but would like to start selling shortly and want to ensure everything is legal and don't want any unexpected costs to appear! I don't envisage breaking even for at least 6-12 months.

    Thanks for your help.

You can register online at HMRC and they will offer you a course which will take you through all the things you need to do.

Keep all capital equipment receipts, if you end up having to register for vat, you can reclaim back over 4 years.
