  • Free at last!!!

Today I officially became a self employed potter - at last free from petty managers and bosses!

I phoned the tax office and they were sooo helpful! A big thank you to them for making things so easy.

Now all I have to do is hope I can actually make a living - but I have high hopes!

Congratulations! welcome to the club it is absolutely terrifying, very stressful and v v long hours and I love every minute. Best thing I ever did. I always think even if it fails I would rather know that than think what if?

Congrats Daesul. Welcome to the Self Employed club!

It is very scary when the end of the month comes and that salary doesn't appear in your bank account but once you get used to that and settle into a new routine (financially) it is fab!!

I really hope it works for you - there isn't anything better than knowing your hard work and long hours are for yourself, not anyone else.

                Good luck x

Well done you for taking the leap and joining us in the ranks of self employed and no pay cheque. Does that make us Senoc's, used to be a Dinkie (Dual income no kids) that was 1 year 9 months 16 hours ago but like you walked away from petty jumped up managers.

Thank you all for your nice comments and good wishes.

I do agree, that it's so much easier to work hard when it's for yourself! I find myself working at weekends and evenings without thinking twice now, whereas before, I begrudged it unless I was offered overtime!

And of course one of the benefits is that I can take a break now whenever I feel like it, or stop to watch a TV programme or browse the internet. Because I know I can make up the time whenver I want or not at all if I choose!

Well done and welcome to the world of the self-employed.

I also think it's fab to work the hours around me rather than some strictly-imposed schedule. Also, the commute is fantastic - a short walk through the garden.

Lots of advantages, the money side takes some getting used to - but I'm getting there.

                            self employed

That Monday morning feeling was over 23 years ago - when me and the other half went self employed, and never looked back.
