Small space in shopping centres

Has anybody or does anyone currently rent space in a shopping centre? I popped into check pricing for them cart things today and it wasn't half as much as I expected. They have a good spot where I can just bring my tables and set up if I wish, I'm really keen on trying it as there is space during the run upto Christmas and even during the Xmas market week. Potential customers who will be passing by, plus it is the same price whether you do a weekend or weekday, and during Xmas the late night shopping is until 9pm.

My only concern is that I'll be near a load of bought in goods!!!

My friend rents a large area for £96 per day. She uses half of it herself as she needs lots of space, and the remaining half she divvies up into three spaces and we pay £16 each per day.

However, in December the price goes up to £156 per day.

Some days are very good, some are OK and some are abysmal. Last week was very good, today was abysmal! But we try not to look at it day by day, we just take the whole period as you will always get some good and some bad days. On the whole, we do make a profit. This year is much better than last year, as people remember us and now know we are not a load of fly by nights. They even come looking specially for us!

I was hoping the handmade items may be a nice draw to people, it's £50 + VAT a day for this one and I had thought that was quite good considering some prices fairs charge. I think I am going to give it a try on the Thursday when the Xmas market starts as it will be the same price from 9am - 9pm, I guess then i'll know if i can't sell anything then it won't be worth it again. It's not an inside space as such it's on the walkway for people as they go to the escalator so maybe in a way that could be better?! I'm considering asking a friend to go halves and we have a table each if they'll let me- even better x

That sounds like a very reasonable price, worth a try once I'm sure! If you're allowed to split it with a friend that would be perfect!
