  • Two people have agreed to sell my stuff!

I am really excited, I started selling my jewellery through a website and initially it was doing quite well. But I hit a slump about 2 months ago and have hardly sold anything.

So I plucked up the courage to take my "wares" lol to a local craft shop and THEY LOVE MY THINGS! I'm going to make 10-15 pieces for them and see how it goes.

Plus another lady who has a stall in a local arcade asked if she could also have some examples of my work whopeee that's 2 outlets.

So I'll let you all know how it goes

Now off to work..........dragging all the beads out for a megga crafting session

That is really excellent news!!!! well done.

I have approached a couple of craft shops here but they want to add 50% onto my prices which in my book would be waaaaaaaaaaaay too high!

Even my local post office (for my smaller items) wants 35% and that would mean I either had to raise my prices or get practically nothing for them.

I would like to give it another go mind you, more for the christmas stuff but again, living in a small place kind of restricts me I think!

But hey, really pleased for you - go for it!!!

                That's fantastic! Well done you!

See everybody? Just go into shops and show them your stuff - at worst they can say no - they can even be rude (one was to me), but what the hey, somebody may just say yes!!

                With regard to prices - I have a trade-price list and yes, it's cheaper than I sell them for. But I have a minimum order requirement on most things, and the way I look at it, if I manage to get stock into a shop I haven't had to;

                a) pay business rates or VAT like the shopkeeper has
                b) stand at a craft-fair which I may have paid a minimum of £30 with no guaranteed sales

Plus, with labels on your stuff, it's also a bit of free advertising!

                Good for you!

I think that, as with anything, you have to take a lot of things into consideration. At the end of the day the jewellery is no good to me sat in boxes here at home - I don't want to let it go for nothing but I also can't afford to outlay for my own shop/stall plus the extra time work and effort involved. Boo hoo!!

I did a craft fair this last weekend, we set up on Friday night 5-9pm, manned the stall all day Saturday and Sunday 8-6pm then packed up and didn't get everything home and away 'till 10pm - by which time I was knackered as well as muttering rather loudly "I will never ever do that again".

It cost me £40 and I didn't sell ONE SINGLE THING

                  I could have cried.

At least this way some of my "older" stuff will go out of the way to bring in a little bit of much-needed cash for more supplies.

All I can do is give it a go, as long as my costs and my time is covered (I'm cheap!) I'm a happy bun bun

                            Well done!
You've given me a bit more incentive to go into a really nice shop in the area that I work to see if they would take any of my cards.....

                            Just plucking up the courage!

I thought this only happened to me but I see from reading the posts that it
is not unusual I was going to a weekly market with my cards and only selling 2or3 a day I havent been for a while it was so annoying and very
embarrassing when people asked how I got on. I know its not great for you but at least I know now that its not the cards thats the problem I,vr tried the local shops but to make a profit they wanted to buy them from me at 30p each which I thought wasn't worth it for me I usually sell for £1.50 to £3.00 depending on the work I put into them is that about right do you think? should I sell this cheaply just to sell as I am really struggling to sell and get my cards known. I can sell to freinds and family no problem I hasve an ebay shop but I'm not selling much there either. What should I do ???
