  • Advertising idea

I spent about an hour this afternoon being computery in an attempt to advertise my jewellery. The idea had been on my mind for a while as my bags are usually huge and would be ideal for advertising.

I realised I had some printable fabric that can go through the printer, I discovered a couple of weeks ago that the computer has letter writing facilities, and I worked out that I can change the portrait layout to landscape(to fit a longer address in), shrink my jewellery pictures, print out a large version of my web address, stick it all on one page with doublesided tape, photocopy it onto the fabric paper and hey presto, an advert to sew onto my bag.
You never know, I may get a flood of visitors.

Il have to learn to subconsciously position my bag in a visible way when im standing in the queue in M&S.Im going to make a bag charm consisiting of the bead colours that I have floating about so that if anybody stops me I can show them what colours are available.

Il let you know if I get swamped with orders.

This would be so cool! I would be very interested in either learning how to do this myself, or paying you money to do it for me!

Hi, I think it's a great idea. I was thinking about doing it myself ages ago when I got some printable fabric. Was gonna do a giant logo and web address and sew it onto my shoulder bag. Then I was thinking all I would have to do was spend a LOT of time wondering around on public transport showing it off and hey presto semi-cheap (discounting bus fares) advertising!

I say go for it! Can't hurt to advertise if you're standing in the M&S queue anyway..

A fantastic idea! I wish you much success, please let us know how it goes - it sounds as if you have a queue of customers for this idea alone

Excellent idea, all the shops do it so why not!!!

I know someone that really hates the fact that all carrier bags advertise the shop, so she turns them inside out! Particularly those from Poundland (I think that's more to do with not wanting people to know she shops in a cheap shop though!!)

Thanks one and all.Id wanted to embroider my web address on bags as I work for an embroiderers but the lady that does all the computer work is far to busy for me to bother her so Im glad I found an alternative.

Id love to do it for other people but i feel Im not very professional at it at the moment.

But basically buy some printbale fabric and print pictures and your web address on it.
I also printed out the same thing and laminated it which il put in the back of my car so when Im stuck in a traffic jam people will have to read it,mwohahaha.

Not crafts-advertising, but related. I was strongly tempted to get a load of "Mattched IT" umbrellas made at the start of the winter-ish season (around Sept - it was beginning to get quite rainy here).

I was then going to go round a few local pubs, etc and offer them half a dozen free umbrellas for their (smoking) customers to use as a courtesy.

Didn't get around to it - but will be doing it at some point - (almost) free on street advertising!
