  • hallmarks?

i am looking into selling some sterling silver jewellery products online but does it have to be hallmarked to be able to call it 'sterling silver' as i have bought from online beadshops that did not have a hallmark.

does the weight change if it needs to be ? as i read that precious metal clay silver only needs to be if it weights more than 7 grams.
Its pretty AND it sparkles !!! me want

Any item of jewellery etc must be hallmarked if it weighs over the 7 gram limit (can't remember exact limit right now, 7 point something or other)

Otherwise you cannot sell it as Silver, Sterling Silver etc.

In the "Selling your jewellery" article on the tutorials page of my website, you will find a whole section on the legalities of selling and various useful links from trading standards to UK assay offices etc.
