  • Wish me luck!!!

As i was having a look around the net last night i decided to ask some small boutiques, gift shops in the local area if they would like to stock my stuff! I applied to about five and today i received..... 1 reply!!!!Yey i am really happy though as it was one particular place i thought looked intriguing and i could possibly see some of my designs there. It's in a nicer part of leicester and the website is http://www.powder-blue.co.uk/

It sells alot of nice home and garden items, however the bags they have got are quite pricey so now i feel i'm too cheap! But hey ho, i'm going to call the lady as she has asked me to call regarding a time i can pop in to show her my talent

So fingers crossed everyone this is the first time i have really asked a public place and i really hope they like my work. And also dont ask too much commission....or my prices will go up!!!!

Please let me know what you think of the shop and i will keep you updated!

Don't let anyone do you out of a fair price.

If she wants your items on a sale or return basis, its usual for a seller's commission fee to be added onto the price that you want.

If you are actually selling your items to her then this is what's known as wholesale supplying and it usually works differently. She would probably expect you to sell them to her at a lower cost than you would ask if you were retailing it yourself. The down-side of this is that you sell to her for £x and she sells them for £xx which can be quite upsetting to think that she's making as much as, if not more than you. But that's business!

My advice is to work out a pricing plan before you go to meet her and take both these options into account when you do your working out.

Good luck and do keep us posted.

I've been in the Powder Blue shop! She used to be based at Wistow - and she's had an article about the shop in Homes and Gardens magazine a few years ago. Gorgeous shop - all the best Dee, hope it works out for you!

Well done Dee, and good luck............ It looks like a really classy shop, but just remeber if you caught her attention just add a little bit of thought and courage and you could do it yourself. Keep me posted. (Sales and Marketing are my strong points) Libby

Well done - you'll have no problem selling in shops - your bags are lovely!

The trick is to just keep asking - I'm always surprised by just how many small independent shops are willing to stock a small selection from a local designer, it's just plucking up the courage to ask sometimes
