Enamelling is a process of adding ground glass powder to silver or copper and then firing until it is molten. The glass powder turns to a liquid state and is glossy and vibrant. There are many beautiful hues to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice.
You will make a couple of pieces of silver or copper jewellery in the morning, they will be fired and then burnished to take the enamel in the afternoon. I will then teach you how to ‘wet pack’ or sift enamel powder onto the jewellery and then it will be fired a second time for the enamel to run.
This workshop is suitable for beginners or for those with some clay experience. The class costs £130 including all clay types, enamels, tools and kiln use.
