  • Craft Website ~ Would love some advice please

    Hello
I would really appreciate some advice on my website. My hobbies have always been crafting, I was made redundant on Maternity leave and wanting to stay at home I decided to open an online business selling craft and card making supplies. I did consider handmade cards and invitations, however research shows a few sites selling these. I have decided to stock dovecraft as my main supply together with items I will make. I am still loading products on, however would really appreciate a review to ensure I am going in the right direction, can anyone help please? Thanks

    Hello there,

It looks good and moves quickly ad nicely. I think though you might have blended your colours a little too well as for me the purple writing on the purple back ground made it a little difficult to read, but that is probably a minor and personal point. I thought it was a really nice site the moment I click onto it so good first impression and it was easy to use.
    Cracked it mate

    Regards,
    Trish

I agree with Trish regarding the colours - purple writing isn't comfortable to read & my eyes were feeling the strain pretty quickly. One major thing is that you are not complying with Distance Selling Regulations which states that your website must display your postal address clearly and also have a statutory returns policy. These are legal requirements so important to ensure they are adhered to. Just Google Distance Selling Regulations & you'll get lots of helpful information (the Office of Fair Trading does a synopsis for businesses which is easy to work through).

Good luck with your new venture - the website looks great apart from the above, it is a mammoth task getting a site up and running so well done you!

        Hi Trish
Thank you so much for looking - I fully understand re the purple, I will have a look at this and see what to change the colour to. The website initially defaulted to black which looked too harse, however I think I may have gone purple overload. I really appreciate the feedback, thanks again. My next quest is advertising to gain more customers

Not a problem at all - I learned the regulations, etc from this very forum so very happy to pass it on! I read some very good advice once elsewhere that made me change my own site that you should have your contact information on your heading so that visitors to your site have a way of calling you with a query should it crop up without having to leave the page they are on and therefore risking them not carrying on with a purchase, etc.

You can see what I did on www.studiocrafts.net if the above didn't really make sense!! x
