  • Updated Shop Pages leads to decreased sales what's wrong?

Hi all & greetings from The Peak National Park, Derbyshire,

I recently updated our shop pages (bakewellsoap.co.uk/shop) and rather than improved sales have seen a substantial decrease & I'm wondering why.

Something seems to be amiss but I can't figure out what.

Could you take a look at our shop pages and perhaps provide some comments on the look & feel?

Would you feel motivated to buy if you were looking for what we sell?

    Any comments good/bad appreciated.

It looks ok to me. The only thing I would say is that I added a product to the shopping cart to see if that was working and the cart was a little bit slow in loading (I have 10mb ADSL connection). However it might be that I live in Spain and sometimes the connection can be well dodgy!!

I have also gone to add something to the cart to see the ease/speed and a security warning comes up

Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?
This webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection, which could compromise the security of the entire webpage.

Whilst this shouldn't put anyone off buying from your store, it could do as people are still jumpy about theft of card details, etc. It is actually your logo on the PayPal shopping cart page which is causing this.

Don't know if this message has always been there but if not, it may be the reason.

        Thanks for the feedback guys

Didn't realise there was a security message being flashed up & yes, that would scare off people I've no doubt!

        Thanks a mil.

The logo needs to be placed in the https (a secure) part of your site for this message not to appear, I think
for bath bomb, soap & Skincare kits
plus Soap Base, Bath Bomb Ingredients, Butters,
Oils and packaging for Bath & Body Products

Have just found a work around for this & it was pretty straight forward too.

I've uploaded the banner image that was causing the problem to a secure 3rd party site (sslpic.com) & pointed the Header Image URL (found in the relevant custom payment pay style in my PayPal profile) to that site.

            Works a charm!

and just in case you haven't, sign up to google analytics and then if you have another issue you can do some detective work.... e.g. is the slump in sales due to a slump in visitors, where are they not coming from now which they did before, are they leaving the site at a certain point in the process etc etc
