  • New website, let me know what you think

Hi, I've built a new website. I think I got it all right as I've done this a few times now but could anyone check it out and let me know what you all think and if there's anything it needs or I've missed.

    Many thanks

Thank you very much for looking and your comments.

I think all those years of teaching myself this sort of thing is begining to pay off.

            Hi,

It looks great... You must have been working on it for a while?

Have you got any advice for how to get websites found in Google etc?

            Many thanks

I'm no expert but this is what I did. First of all, register your site with Google. They have a huge webmaster section where you can do all sorts of things to get indexed and get better page ranking.

Links are one of the best ways of getting Google page rank. 3D Crafts is not registered with Google yet but it is showing good search results already (only been live for about a week and a half) purely because it is linked from my other website (Grin And Craft It) and this forum through my signature. The more links going to you, the better your page ranking. I did a search on Google for 'printable pyramage' which is one of the products I sell and scored number 2 , above some well established websites selling the same thing.

SEO is another tool of the trade but that's like rocket science to me at the moment. There's probably more tricks of the trade and I have much more learning to do but I'm happy with the results I'm getting at the moment.

              Hope this helps.

Quite a good site - on a technical note how do you find zen cart? Looking through your site your seo is way out of tune - but could be due to using zen cart software.

Apart from that its seems like a really good site!
                    Congrats

I find Zen Cart quite easy to use and fairly straight forward to set up. A lot easier than OSCommerce which I use on my other shop. Even installing the lightbox scripts was a doddle. I am looking into converting the OSC shop over to Zen Cart and I have found some scripts that will handle the transfer of the database. Scary stuff but I like a challenge.

As for the SEO, I'll take your word on that. Not my strong point at the moment but it's on the list of things I need to tackle. Thanks for pointing that out though, I may look into it sooner than I intended.

just a minor note - if you plan to do seo:

search google for a company called - seomoz.

It has all the basic tools + instructions on how to optimize your site.

This way you need no knowledge as its all there.

Will walk you through keyword optimisation, density, url redirects, url rewriting - the full works

Theres a paid version and free version (you will only need the free to do what you need - just takes longer)
