  • Tools, Information and How to

    Hello All

Over the last few months we have added a number of sections to our site. However, they do not get as many visitors as the rest of the site. I would be very interested to know it you had any thoughts about why that may be the case?

    http://www.ukcraftfairs.com/information/index.htm (Bank holidays and birthstones)

    http://www.ukcraftfairs.com/howto/index.htm (Bodging, candle making etc)

http://www.ukcraftfairs.com/tools/un...tors-index.htm (converting centimeters to inches etc)

As always, I would always be interested in feedback on the rest of the site too.

    Regards

    Michael

    Hi,

I've just had a look at the 3 links and have a couple of suggestions:

    1. All 3 links appear to link directly from the small text at the bottom of your homepage. Maybe if the links on the homepage were made bigger or put in a more obvious place, you would receive more hits for these particular links.

    2. All the pages you have given links to contain large amounts of text in blocks. Most people would find this off-putting, as it just looks like text and nothing else. I would suggest breaking the text up into smaller "bite size" paragraphs and possibly putting in some relevant images to add more interest.

    3. Are they pages that warrant being on your website? If people are not visiting them, is it because your "audience" have no need for them? It's something to consider anyway.

    4. you have a spelling mistake on the third page - this may deter some people from reading further if they do come across the page.

I hope this helps and that I haven't come across as being too picky.

      Hi,

      All four suggestions are appreciated.

The links are a little small on most pages and are only at the bottom of the page, so people may never notice them. I will have to think about that.

On the "How to" pages i have drawn a number of pictures to go with the text but not on all of them. I agree that making the content more interesting and visual should help. Needs a bit of work on my part.

Hopefully the pages are relevant to our audience but have not got any feedback. Hopefully not a lot of work for nothing.

What can I say; I must have been having a dyslexic day on that third page. Fixed it now!

Thank you very much for the feedback.

      Regards

      Michael
