  • Quick opinion...

I'm considering 'rejigging' the layout of my website.

I've created a 'test page' for one of my current pages so you can see the comparison.

    Current page - http://laurasbeadedcharms.webs.com/beadedfruits.htm
    Test page - http://laurasbeadedcharms.webs.com/beadedfruitstest.htm

If you could just tell me which you prefer (current or test) that would be great!

Also, (if you've got the time ) do you think it matters that on the test page you can't see the charm strap in the photo?
    Any other feedback welcome.

    Thanks.

EDIT: 3rd option!! - What do you think to me using the test page (no straps in the photos) and then also creating a new Gallery page showing the charms in 'all their glory'? If you take a quick look at the homepage - http://laurasbeadedcharms.webs.com/ - you'll see a photo of the fruits all together which is the sort of thing I'd have in the Gallery.

EDIT II: Group of fruits photo now at the top of the beaded fruits page - http://laurasbeadedcharms.webs.com/beadedfruitstest.htm
and then the individual charms are listed underneath. (Just the first 2 for now as it's still only my 'test page').

    What do you think?

And I apologise for the 'misleading' title of this thread, lol. It seems to have developed somewhat from the original quick opinion of either current or test!

Actually I think I prefer the first page, I like to see things all at once, and I think the full picture does them more justice than a part picture as in the second page.

Your photo's are fab though! They look 3D, good enough to eat

Really? I had it in my head that the straps made the photos look a bit 'messy', lol. What do you think to me maybe creating a 'Gallery' page showing the original photos, straps and all?

      Thanks for yor reply.

First of all i'd like to say your charms are gorgeous.
I prefer the test page version best . I think too it would be better to see the strap as well as the charm and then the customer can see it complete.

I prefer the first layout, the charms look nice 'en masse'!

              Hi

First of all they are boteh very good (love the charms soo delicious!!) I think out of the two i prefer the first one as you can see the different varities you offer.....where as the second one although it shows lovely clear pictures you are only limited to seeing two of your items. Well done for both they are both good i know how much work goes into the web pages!!
              hope this helps

                Thank you!
Do you mean you like the current page then? (That's the one showing the straps).

Thanks, I'm actually really surprised at the responses, lol, I was sure the photos on the test page were better because you can see the actual charm much clearer. Ah well!

Following on with my gallery idea - if you look at the homepage http://laurasbeadedcharms.webs.com/ you'll see a photo of the fruits grouped together. This is the sort of thing I would have in the Gallery if I went with the 'test page' (no straps). What do you think?
Edit: I've just editted my original post to include this.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you can only see 2 of the charms... Do you mean that only 2 fit on the screen at the same time because of the size/layout? Or just that there are only 2 on the actual page? (I will add all of the fruit charms to that page if I decide to go with it).

                    Hi Laura

Ah, i see sorry.....I can only see two of the charms on the test page, where as on the original page you see alll of them, if you are going to add all the options onto your test page then this in my opinion will be the better one of the two as you can see them so much clearer......sorry if i didnt make myself self clear am half a sleep!! lol

Lol, that's okay. I created the test page this morning and just put 2 of the listings up to get an idea of what it would look like.

                      Thanks for your feedback.

I like the current one one best, its the easiest to see everything.

The only thing I dont like about your site is the dodgy adverts at the top, firefox crashed the first time I clicked and I assume it was down to those. I went back because no one else has mentioned it on here so I assumed it was safe but if I was a customer I wouldnt have risked it again, I am untrusting of websites with dodgy ads

Yes, as it's a free site I have to put up with the ads, sorry I know it puts some people off. I've never had it crash before though (I'm using IE7).
The ads seem to be bead-related most of the time although I just saw a Virgin Media one .

Can I ask what it is specifically about having the top ad that makes you think the site is unsafe/risky?
