    Hi Guys,

Well it is now or never...I have never had my website reviewed by anyone and it gets around 20 visitors a day but seldom any orders....

    http://www.pollyanna-patchwork.co.uk/?craft-forum

I would really appreciate it if people could take a look and let me know their thoughts.

Please be honest - I can take it (really - I can! )

    Best Regards

Fabric is not something I buy so not sure if this will be any help or not.

I like the way it's all spaced out clearly and it's quick and easy to navigate.

Just wondered, is fabric maybe something people want to see and feel in person? Don't know, just the first thing I thought of.

I think your website is nice, clean and simple, easy to find what you want and I absolutely love the picture of "Polly" at the top!

How long have you had your website set up? Do you advertise? I guess the trouble is that people tend to keep going back to the same place to buy supplies, unless they specifically hear about something better. So you need to find a way of getting your name out there.

Some ideas I have picked up from other similiar threads have included local advertising with leaflets, business cards etc. Writing a blog regularly - either with news of new products etc, or even better examples of things you have made with some of the fabrics! Then get reading other people's blogs too and network that way. I think some people use facebook to raise their business profile. Other people pay for adverts on other sites. It all depends how much you can invest, both in time and in money.

          Looking good

          Hi
I Like the clarity of it and the fact that you are shouting about your delivery charges.

How are you getting 20 odd hits a day I have only just launched mine and I am luckiy if I get 1 a day.

How long have you been set up?

I launched the site in August last year and didn't receive my first order until October!

I use 1&1 e-shop to put the site together and their google products submission (base.google.com) submits my entire inventory to google. This often results in us appearing top of google searches in the shopping results section, but just not managing to convert them at the moment...

I think your site works well. I've visited it a few times even tho I don't generally buy fabric - I just like it! Which package are you using from 1&1 if you don't mind me asking and is it easy to use?

                  Hi

The site is very clean looking and easy to navigate.
I know nothing about fabrics - but did need to order some recently, I contacted the company and for about £5 they sent me up to 10 samples of my choice, they were about A5 size. I was then able to make my choice as I had seen them in the flesh. Might be worth considering?

I also noticed that there is no address on you site - I personally would not buy from a site unless I knew where they were. But probably that is just me.

Well done, I do know the work that goes into building a site.

I like the site, it's very clean and fresh looking. The pictures come up quickly and it's easy to navigate.
Just a few little things I noticed. I followed a link from your home page to the Twigs and Berries fabric but couldn't be sure if it was being sold by the metre or FQ as it was not in the description. It also took me a while to realise that the material sold by the metre was in the browse by pattern section - it would be helpful to mention that fabric can be bought by the metre in the description.
The other thing I noticed was that some of the jelly roll pictures didn't enlarge when clicked on. I would also like to see them maybe partly unravelled and splayed out so I could see the pattern and colours rather than 'buying blind'.
                    Hope this helps.

                    Melanie

                      Hi There,

I use the Business Pro Shop and it costs about £25 per month. Expensive but definitely worth it...IMO

The shop designer is easy to use and it integrated with PayPal with no problems at all. As with anything, it took some time to get the hang of it and to figure out how we wanted to structure things...in fact we still haven't really settled on a final structure it is still evolving as we go.

                        Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. I'll have a think about the samples and how it could work from an ordering point of view. Fabric is a hard thing to sell online because I know I like to see and feel it too.

I would like to point out that my full name and address are on the site (1&1 won't let you NOT put it on). It is at the bottom of the page in the footer under Contact Us.

Perhaps I need to make it clearer?

                        Best Regards
