Crimp Pliers

Ok I splashed out and bought a proper pair of crimp pliers but how on earth do they work ?

I just end up with a flattened crimp which I can get using a pair of pliers

there should be two holes in the jaws of your pliers, the inside one should be 'crescent' shaped. You need to put your crimp in this part first. The other hole should be round. Place the crescent shaped crimp vertically into the round hole and slowly press closed, this should fold your crescent in half, forming a small roundish crump.

Hopw this helps and let me know if anything I've said doesn't make sense.

I've never been able to get on with the 2 step crimping pliers - I could always do the half moon bit, but then, nothing

But these new ones - the magical crimping pliers (including shameless plug) - are fab, and ever so easy to use. They turn a 2x2mm crimp tube into a nice round little bead.

Are you using the magical crimping pliers or the 2-step crimping pliers?

I've never been able to get on with the latter, which is why I don't sell them.

I bought the 2-step ones, I put the crimp on the half moon bit and squeeze but then can't get the round looking bit.

I've a few new tools and very disappointed with them, a gadget for rounding off the ends of wire that does nothing and a new pair of cutters that seem useless as well.

What do your crimps look like? The plain crimps tend to work better than the twisted sort of crimps - well i find that they do anyway!

I've actually done a proper crimp with my pliers, but not certain how many times it has gone wrong and I've had to start again
