  • selling your wares at a vw show?

hello again! another question!! (well, i have just joined and its all very exciting!

anyone here had a stall at a vw show? thought i'd ask as i'm interested in going to one this year (have van, gotta be done!) and i know they have various stalls to hire (seems an ideal place, specially for the sort of jewellery i make.) so just wondered if anyone had any experiences of such an event.

    thank you!

    Hi urbanfairy,

I haven't sold at a VW show but have been thinking of it too. Have you booked? It seems ideal for me too as I've got a camper and we go to lots of shows. Plus the atmosphere is great too.

Let me know if you've booked etc and how you get on.

hi funky la la, no, not booked yet, but had a look at the list of shows on a veedub forum (you might know it ) and havent found a website for any that have a list of stall holders and their wares (always like to research these things!) also, not been to a show yet - gasp! i just remember looking last year and finding some lists that had a variety of sellers. would be interested if anyone else has done any........................

      what are the shows like?

like the name by the way. sort of.......... rolls off the tongue - love it!

Hi urbanfairy haven't done the craft stalls at a vw show but have attended quite a few over the years (my OH and i used to run the vw club in northern ireland) and before kids we used to take of for the weekend and sometimes we camped and sometimes we b&b but always had a ball and made some great friends so i would say go for it ps over the last 20 years we've had 3odd beetles a coulpe of campers and a mark 2 golf and am on the lookout for another camper great for the craft fairs
        while i knit i think

Yay! VWs and crafters. What could be better?

Thanks for the compliment, Urbanfairy. I like your username too.

am i allowed to say which forum the list of shows is on? the forum is nothing to do with crafts..............!

i've just checked again, and theres a weekend one in late april that lists last years traders and theres some 'allsorts' (nothing to do with veedubs) selling clothing, jewellery etc. i've only checked out the weekend ones that have camping cos then its more worth the travel, more of a laugh (i'm assuming) and more time to sell/expose (in a marketing manner you understand!). theres shows running throughout the year and a lot of them seem to be up north or the west country. think i might make a few phone calls this week. anything interesting, and i'll post it on here!

The only thing I would say to you is this, I go to loads of car shows over the summer (American cars not VW's) Me and my friends find it so frustrating walking around the 'trade' stands when most of them are nothing to do with cars and we call it a car boot sale! This is only my opinion but for me I wouldn't bother as people are there to see the cars and buy bits for cars (badges, wheels etc) and not our lovely jewellery! Selina

We always go to the one I think you're referring to at the end of April and there are always a variety of stalls. Lots of crafts etc but usually with some sort of VW theme involved somewhere. Although there are always some that have no VW relevence at all. Mt OH bought me a gorgeous ring from one last year.

Also, big ones, such as VanFest etc usually have an indoor area devoted to craft stalls/clothing stalls etc. Have a look on the volkszone site, they list all shows and have links to the show organisers etc.

                  Good luck!
