  • on-line craft market

hello! through my endless trawling of the internet for fairs, events etc (i kinda feel i'm not alone here!!) i came across a site that 'hosts' stalls on-line. just wondered if anyone does this already, and if so, hows it going??

apparently (if i've understood it correctly) you 'set up' your stall through their site and only pay them a comission when an item sells (as it goes through them). this sounds quite good, but as i'm forever the pesimist (sp?) when it comes to trading (maybe cautious is a better word), i'd appreciate any comments from others that may have/is using this method to sell their wares!

I know you can't link yet, urbanfairy, but can you tell us the name of the website? It sounds like the same kind of deal as Etsy, artflock, trunkt, etc...?? In which case, I've had varying amounts of success, usually relative to the amount of work put in to promoting it, but I am starting to become more of a fan of Etsy the more I use it.. I may be on the wrong track here.. is that what you were asking about?

I dont have the link to one I found ages ago anymore....but can I ask if the main home page had a photo that looked like a proper "real life" craft fair-come market scene?

If I can find the link again (it was on my old PC, not looked for it since I got my new on) I'll show it you

....but anyway, the one that tried to look and act like a "real life craft market" never responded to my email asking for more details about costs etc so I just thought "your loss".....

      Dunno if that helps

I hope I'm allowed to name the site here...is it Craft Market Corner you're asking about?

I've come across them and called the number on their site but the message said their voicemail was full and wouldn't let me leave a message (tried over a few different days). I've also emailed them but had no response - like Shaz says - their loss.

yeah, thats the one! hmmm? dont sound too good does it!!

whats etsy then? is it like ebay? tried a few items on ebay, but cant help feeling its a bit like a boot sale (get ripped off by costs and everyone wants something for nothing).

i did say 'feeling'. i've not completely given up yet!

              on line craft sales

              Hi everyone
I just picked this up, and wanted to put my oar in!
Etsy seems pretty good, and very cheap. There is also Ecrater and Tazbar
              hope this helps

It's polite to say who you are before you 'put your oar in'.

                  Online craft market

Yes, I found this one too and had a look at the site but somehow you cant beat that feeling of getting up early and setting up your stall, to me nothing beats seeing people pick up your things and smile when they like it. Wouldnt it be sort of a lonely way of selling your things - or on the other hand is any sale a good sale? Maybe I should try it too..

                    Hi all,

I'm very interested in this thread as I've been looking at etsy as well. There is another one for artisan crafters call Ruby Lane.
