have already all the info thanks, just wondered if anyone had heard of it. went down yesterday and there was 2 - 3 stalls. apparently the market has been refurbished and this is a new idea the new market manager is working on and wants support with. Saying there was only 3 stalls they looked to be alot of public interest. may try next week for a tenner.

I hadn't heard of it until I read your post. I did Blackburn Art Market last week and did ok (not brill, but ok and the regular stallholders said it was the quietest week of the year because of Blackburn holidays).

Is it an indoor market or an outdoor with cover (will the wind whistle by and knock all my canvases over??!)?

It sounds a good opportunity, especially as it is midweek and doesn't take anything from the weekends.

Let us know how it went if you do try it. Would be interested to know when it finishes, as I teach an evening class on Thursdays and would need to be back in time. I don't want to be packing up when the buying public are still milling around!!

            Chorley Market Update

I went to have a look at the craft fair at Chorley Market today.

There were only 4 stalls, one selling stones with calligraphy on them, half a stall selling bath bombs, one jewellery stall and a lady selling stuff for cardmaking.

I had a chat with the cardmaking lady and she said it had been a good craft market with a really friendly atmosphere but people have dropped off since the refurb.

They desperately need more stallholders to get it going again. Its £10 for a stall, the stalls are already there for you, about 10-12 ft x 4 ft and you don't need any insurance. There are about 24 stalls in all.

The market is under cover with a walkway through the middle where people cut through to the shopping precinct, there's a little cafe so we sat and had a coffee and there were lots of people walking through.

It's open 10.00am - 4.00pm every Thursday and you can ring up to book you just have to tell them what you will be selling.

Just thought I'd let you know what I found.

Thanks Alice, lots of useful info there. I like the size of the stalls! I may try it soon.

It's a shame there are not more stalls there. Hopefully it will pick up towards Christmas.

Just wondered if anyone had signed up to this???

We went over on Saturday just to have a look around and to be honest I wasn't impressed, given it was Saturday lunchtime with 3 pay-days to Christmas the place was absolutely dead, though the market manager seemed to think that it was a good steady crowd. I'd spoken to the manager on the phone already and he was quite honest in that for various reasons Thursday's are quiet at the minute and he's looking to build things up, but I was put off that what I thought was really quiet he thought was fine

Is anyone going on a regular basis? Are Thursday's any better?!
