I was supposed to be there too - I was looking forward to it. Doing jewellery I don't imagine I'll get anything else at such short notice.

What a shame! What exactly has been cancelled and what reasons have been given? Is it the whole event or just a section etc? I was going to do it but couldn't spare the time this month.

Looking at the Festival site the following appears:

This is due to advanced ticket sales not generating enough funds to cover the set up costs for the Festival.

The whole event has been cancelled and the organisers have gone into recievership.

Everyone who has bought tickets, paid fees, etc has to wait to find out if they will get anything back.

Better not say what i really think about this (I'm not blaming Apple tree) because it will probably break some rule somewhere! I've only lost the table fee, but others have lost an awful lot of money.

              Dire News Indeed...

Horribly, I found out the news this morning via another crafter. I was actually speaking to the fesival people on Friday and they never uttered a word.

I've been to see my solicitor this morning, but he says all I can do is get the administrator's details, apply to the receivers and wait my turn in the queue.

My phone hasn't stopped all morning, and my emails are non-stop. I know a lot of people think that ATCF have cancelled this event, but it wasn't our decision. I am as confused as everyone else and can't get through on the phone for clarification or details as to what to do next. As far as we can see, Tidworth aren't covered by their insurance for this either....it doesn't look like any event insurance covers receivership.

Most people have emailed me with lovely words of support, but a few have been very nasty indeed. I feel totally mangled, but with the best will in the world there was no way anyone (apart from Community Dynamix Ltd) could see this coming. We've worked out that, so far, financially we are nearly £4,000 out of pocket, which is frightening.

All I can do at present is apologise sincerely and ask for everyone's patience. I will refund everyone in full, but it might take me a little while.

                What a nightmare Jules.

Like I said above, i'm not blaming you at all.

It does seem awfully convenient that the festival organisers can walk away and it's people like you that carry the cost. The craft fair was only one little bit of it, I dread to think how many people have lost money. And all the people that had pre-bought tickets - they have lost their money as well.

sorry some others have been nasty - I purposely didn't mail as i figured you would have enough calls and mails to deal with. xx

edited to add that this is on the BBC newes site (sorry, not allowed to add links!) if you go to bbc news/england/west - south west, they are saying that those who bought tickets are not getting refunds.

                  'Page' cancelled

Can't get onto the BBC page for the festival. It says navigation cancelled?

Maybe BBC have reported incorrectly, so it's had to pull the page. Will watch HTV news, see if it's on there tonight.

The consequences and knock on effects of this are going to be huge. My parents, both pensioners, booked two nights in a hotel (as did we) to be there to help me. They've also paid out a lot of money to have their dog & cat looked after whilst they are away.

It's the little things that are so heart-breaking, the personal side of it all.

Jules, these things happen completely out of the blue and I'm sure I speak for all the reasonable and level-headed people out there when I point out that you are most definitely not to blame and could have done nothing to prevent this. Don't let any angry or annoyed people get to you as they are just looking for someone to vent at... and as with any such event going into administration, it's people like you who will be left to pick up the pieces... the other people will not be contactable so easily. Many people will make a financial loss as a result of this and be affected by the aftermath of the cancellation. Keep your chin up and take things steady!

Sorry to hear that Jules, I hope you manage to get some money back.
I found the details on BBC news here.

It's such a shame as it looked like a good festival.
