  • Looking forward to 2009 - Trade fairs Scotland

I'm possibly looking to do my first trade fair at Aviemore in April. This scares the bejesus out of me Has anyone here done it before, what did you think? Ultimately, was it worth it? (I know I can't afford to do the SECC...ever, and this one was reccomended)
Rates seems ok, £160 per sq m, with a minimum of 2m.
    Please help me decide!

    Hello Lomond Soap

I will be joining you at Aviemore Trade Fair.

This too is my first trade fair - I'm bricking it also.

Having sleepless nights already - trying to think of new designs, flyers etc.

    You are not alone!!

I'll pop along and see how you are getting along on the day.

In the meantime, perhaps we can share some helpful hints with one another??

I'm also aiming for the SECC - next year. Thought I would try a small one first. I'm going to the SECC trade fair at the end of this month to do some homework and research as to how it all goes. Will let you know how I get on (unless you will be there as a visitor also).

    Good luck.
    Take care

    Kathryn

Goldieab I'm sorry I won't be joining you this year, finances won't allow it! Instead I'm going to target some shops I think might like/sell my stuff, look for wholesale accounts and get out there at some markets & fairs. I really wanted to do this but I'm daunted by 1. the price, it's very reasonable but I don't have £320 and 2. I'm worried that if I was successful at the fair I wouldn't be able to fulfill the orders (I work full time and can't just take time off to get orders ready).
I wish you luck, please let us know how you get on. I'll be there for definate 2010

Sorry to hear you wont be there Lomond Soap.

I'll keep you up to date with the trade fair and let you know how I get on.

If I was employed, I would also worry about future orders, so you are probably right not to take the plunge in this way. But hopefully you can go ahead in 2010.

This is my job so I have to give it a go and would love to stock some more shops in Scotland.

Good luck with your retail outlets.
            Take care
