  • Wing, Rutland - Sunday 30 November

Not strictly a craft fair, but a village Christmas Bazaar with crafts. I will be there with my cards etc etc and crafty-clarie will be there with her lovely jewellery (don't know what else there will be, but gifts, crafts and produce). So if you are in the area and looking for something to do on a cold winter Sunday come and say hello to us. It is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and refreshments are available.

Well I can report that Clare and I had a very good time as we were back to back with each other - so a little chatting went on, but as well as that we actually sold things and in comfortable, warm surroundings (You could ask Clare about the piece of cake!!!!!!!).

We both also displayed our forum "badges" - not that I think anyone noticed, but we tried. One of the better events of this year for me. We were kept amused by some of the antics of the browsers. One lady asked me if I had any christmas cards of Uppingham in the snow "they have them for sale in the Uppingham Post Office" - I refrained from asking why she had not bought them from there and pointed out that I did my own designs. Another lady picked up a christmas card with a penguin on and asked if it was an owl, when I said no she asked whether I had any with owls on - in that case I am afraid I did say perhaps she could pretend it was an owl. One lady looked at Clare's stall and pointed to some earings, saying that she had bought some of those with a necklace "and they are handmade" Clare very patiently pointed out that hers were handmade (and kindly did not point out that therefore she could not have bought " a set like those" as these were individual). So we had the odd chuckle and a good day. Let's hope it continues.

Well done Cynthia (and Clare)! Glad you had a good day and a laugh. Best fairs I've done have been measured by the camaraderie as much as the money!

oooh - wonderful. Brings back memories. When I used to run our nativity plays here our church warden used to make a point of coming to the dress rehearsal we had in the church about an hour before the service in order to convince himself that miracles do happen. He always said he could not believe the difference, there I was tearing my hair out because no one was listening and then there they were being wonderful performers and as good as gold.
