  • My first "craft" fair - and it went ok

Well I'm back from my first ever "craft" ahem - fair. I must admit when I got there I nearly turned round and came home again, it was a teeny little village hall & to be honest was not much more than a jumble sale. I was the only crafter there and there were about another 7 stalls, one had homemade cakes, there was a tombola, another couple of car boot stlye efforts, a sweet stall & that was about it.

I had a lot of people walk by my stall and not show a lot of interest and I really didn't think I was going to sell a thing. But I did, and whilst the majority of my sales were to friends who came along to give me some moral support (including the lovely Katianne from here - so nice to meet you ) I did sell to some strangers, gave out a few cards with the website address on and made a profit of £55, which I'm really pleased with all things considered.

And now I just want to do another one, although hopefully the next one will be more a craft fair, with people who come to buy handcrafted goods!

It was quite funny at times, as when I mentioned to people who were browsing the jewellery that it was all handmade by me, that seemed to scare them off!

Enjoyed the afternoon though and made a profit - and that's what counts.

it's a shame it wasn't what you expected..as in not really a "craft" fair, but at least you did well!

Well done! £55 profit is great, especially for the size of the venue and location (it was in a lovely village but off the beaten track a bit!). When is your next event?

Can I just say that Autumn Faerie's's crafts are lovely - I was very tempted to buy up the whole stall but I had to contain myself...maybe I'll come and see you at another one

That's fantastic, to do so well when it wasn't even a proper craft fair. Really pleased for you.

I wonder why people were scared off when you said you'd made the jewellery yourself?

Hope you find a real craft fair soon.

Well done, you....£55 is really good for a first fair - I made about £10

I hope your confidence crisis is fading, now you know that people will buy your crafts

Thanks guys, yes I am feeling more confident now as even though quite a few sales were to friends as I said, nobody bought the cheapest thing they could - just to be kind - and it was good to get some genuine interest. One lady bought some earrings and asked if I had a matching bracelet, which I dont, but I gave her my website and told her to contact me if she still wants one & I'd let her know the cost, so that was good.

Did have a lot of the "3 P's" as Swirly calls them which gave DD & I a good chuckle (that's pick up, put down & p*ss off )

                        That's excellent ...well done!!!

It's just the antidote needed to beat off the doom and gloom stories we keep hearing about at events these days.

There is money about ...it's just a case of prising it out of peoples pockets by showing them something they can't resist buying. Not easy I know ...but this proves it can be done.

Well done again and here's to even greater success at your next event!

                        Regards.

Wooo hoooo! Well done on surviving your first fair and making a profit from it.

You deserve a tall glass of something cold with an alcohol content of at least 10%.

                              You go girl!
