  • Has anyone else had a slow day on the craft fair front?

I feel a bit dishartened this evening . I spent all day in a craft tent at a local show and I made absolutely no sales what so ever and I had cold wet muddy feet all day too. I'm back there tomorrow so I'm hoping things pick up, but I suppose I shouldn't get my hopes up.
How has anyone else done today?

Varies so much you can just never tell what it will be like. I had a not very good day last weekend but today at a fair I made just over £700. So a very happy evening today and just celebrated with a chinese.

                Hi,

Never done a craft fair myself but i have heard that some people get on really well & others not. It's a bit dishearting if you don't get any sells as you know how much work and effort has been put into produce your goods & the expense as well.

Hope you get some good buys tomoorrow

Cheers guys . Still no luck today, I sold a bag for my sister but none of my stuff. hay ho, there will always be more fairs and christmas will be on the horizon very soon. I think bad combo of soggy field due to terrible weather and this bloody credit crunch, people just looking rather than buying. Did give out a few business cards and postcards so they might be in touch in the future. On the brighter side as I was demonstrating so I got quite a bit of work done.
Laurah J - £700 blimey! thats more than i've made in a year before, well done.

thanks, its very rare though, have never done so well before. Was very lucky as one very wealthy lady bought 7 bracelets and 3 bracelets off me which came to nearly £400, she was advance buying for christmas preesents.

Last week I had a terrible fair and one coming up next weekened too so will wait and see what happens. Its swings and roundabouts, hit or miss. I dont thnk theres any rhyme or reason to sales, just all about the right people at the right time.

aaawww its soul destroying when you have such bad fairs, I did one recently where I sold barely anything, I just covered my table costs but sadly we have to take the rough with the smooth.
Stay positive and keep in mind the good craft fairs you have done,August can be a slow month, lots of people holiday in August and loads more have the expense of the new school term , kids to kit out etc and tend to hold onto what little spare cash they have.
It can be hard to keep smiling at people who tell you how clever you are and then buy nothing, but hopefully your cards will bring in orders.

and double wow for the £700 ,I'd be over the moon and back at that amount......mind you though I'd have no stock left so I'd have to work twice as hard to restock for the next fair, lol

                              Craft Fairs

Craft fairs are very up and down, especially at the moment with the economic state.

I personally do well as I'm the only one locally who sells dichroic glass jewellery and in my area, hardly anyone has seen it before.

I have a craft buddy, who sells beaded jewellery, and she has up and down days.

It is very disheartening when you have bad days, but you cannot let it get you down and you mustn't give up.

                              Good luck
                              Take care
