freezer paper...

Has anyone ever used 'freezer paper' to print onto fabric through the printer?

Does it actually work? run through the printer OK?

I want to put text onto some fabric and don't fancy painting it with fabric paint as I'm no good with a paint brush!!

I've used the transfer paper stuff - where you print onto it with a normal printer and iron it on. It worked alright.

No idea where you purchase it from though, i think I got it from an office shop (on the office expense account of course so I have no idea how much it cost either)

I've used that at school many times and I have to say it drives me round the bend!!! It either works perfectly or doesn't work at all
Hence the reason i'm going to try an alternative.

Freezer paper just irons onto the back of the fabric to give it stability so it should work.

But the ink in the printer will just wash of if you dont use bubble jet( can be very messy )

I buy proper fabric sheets for printing on, you use them like paper iron the design to set it and then cut them and sew like ordinary fabric.

Works well quite expensive but I dont use them all the time so a little expense isnt to bad. After all I deserve to treat myself. lol

Fantastic stuff.

Just spray it with some water-repellent stuff you use for shoes, but it is hand-washable. (I've even had some through the washing machine, but the colours fade after a while)

One other thing .... has anyone ever come across 'fabric rubber stamp pads' ??
Aparently you can get the ink pads then use normal letter stamps and just iron to fix
??
I've been searching for them for ages, but have never come across any?

You use the pads the same way... with a normal rubber stamp, but when you fix them (iron the fabric) it becomes permanent. So I can use alphabet rubber stamps to create words on fabric and it will be washable (hopefully!!) after fixing.

You can also use Fabrico inks, I've used them to stamp on silk lavender bags and the effect was really good. You should be able to find them easily here in the UK as a few of my suppliers stock them....in fact I used to stock them but discounted and discontinued them as they were really slow to sell.

Apparently Fabrico is now called VersaCraft. (I've been doing my research today!) So those that I linked are the same.
A bit worrying that they didn't sell? Lets hope they do the job
