Here is the thread for helping to sell on Etsy. I've been through the forums on Etsy and this is what I could glean from them! These won't be in any order by the way!!

The first thing is to get a banner and avatar for your shop - if you aren't very good at this then there are people on Etsy who can offer this service to you. Another tip is not to have too much information in your heading part on Etsy - you can put terms an conditions into your profile page and it will enable people to see your work quicker - they won't have to trawl through all the text first. The other advice is that once you have a decent number of things in your shop, only list a couple of things at a time - don't bust a gut trying to get things on there all at once. Listing a couple of things per day is better than trying to get everything on at once as it ensures that your work is seen on the newly listed things page and you stay near the top of the search lists. I've done this and seen more views on my objects than when I was trying to list altogether. Also photo's - the clearer the better!!

Here's a link to the top things on Etsy that are recommended for newbies - very good thread.

I can't think of anything else of the top of my head but here are a few more links that I found that were interesting.

Thanks very much for this. :) I'm definitely going to spend some time checking out the links and I might start up an etsy shop once I feel confident and built up more items to put on there.

Thanks for that. I registered my name with etsy and bought something(!) but have never got round to setting up a shop, now I've no excuse (apart from finding the time). How is etsy working out for people, are sales increasing as it becomes better known?

Thanks too for doing that, I'm off to read the threads now.
I've registered with Etsy now and will take the hint about adding a few things at a time.
Will let you know how it goes. :D

Yeah I'm going to register on etsy but will wait until I'm sure on a name I want to use as it says it can't be changed and I'm not sure what to call myself yet.

Thanks again for this thread. :) I've spent a bit of time over the last couple of days setting up my etsy, taking pictures and getting my etsy shop up and running after reading various tips.

I've started to trawl through the links, but it is a LOT of small print!!
Can anyone say quickly how much per transaction and what percentage does Etsy take as commission?

gz. - Etsy charge 20cents to list an item and 3.5% of any sales. Hth
