I'm not sure if this is the right place but has anybody seen a tutorial/pattern for a Christmas Wreath?

The one I'm sure I've seen a picture on is made up of 3 "tubes" of stuffed fabric plaited together

Your post aroused my interest so I went a-googling :)

Now I know what I'm going to do with my FQs of Christmas fabric! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_20_9.gif

I have made a few of these but I think I just winged it with measurements for the length of the tubes etc. My only tip would be to stitch over the top of the tubes securely before you start to plait them, I didn't once and it all fell apart! I bought a large cheap cushion pad to stuff them with. Post a photo whenever you get it finished I'd love to see it.

Sue - thanks for the links - they're just what I was after. I was googling plait instead of braid!!

Steffi - thanks for the tip.

I'll definately post a pic when it's done

Thank you both

Someone had a bright idea to make some ( like 10 ) of these years ago for the play group to sell. They took ages to stuff and it was hard to get the stuffing even. After the third one one of the girls rolled up some of the wadding and hand sewed the fabric round it, tucking the raw edges inside - it was a bit quicker and the padding was much more even. Then we had another try and machine stitched the edges with the wadding roll - we got a ridge where the sewing was but managed to hide them at the back of each plait.

if you know of a flower wholesaler you can buy different shapes of round wreaths you can get a bare frame that is like 2 rings of wire together which florists use to make floral wreaths with instead of mossing you could use wadding to go all around the ring and the put your fabric on top of that alternatively there is a type of wreath ring that comes ready made and is used mostly for dried flowerarrangements it is white in colour I am not sure what it is made of but a friend of mine used to make wreaths straight onto them by just carefully wrapping the fabric around them and then adding dreid flowers, cinnamon etc with a glue gun , i still have one of these in my attic which has been bashed around by the kids and is still fine after about six years so they are fairly hardy, this way there would be not so much sewing involver i would imagine so should speed up production time! hope this helps.
