I enjoyed Switchboards, but saw UK Craft Websites, and liked that it is European-based.

15-10-2007, 05:38 PM
Hi all,
I found this site off google. Anyway, I make jewelleries, and also rescue them, basically get them recycled, making them looking spanking new. I also design appliques on clothings as well as recycling, reconstruct clothes too. I draw other designs as well as make my own fabric pendants etc.
i'm currently looking to find someone to share a booth with me at portobello market or may just sell my stuff solo, or maybe ask one of the vendors over there if they like to share. anyhow, i'm currently working on my portfolio so i can show and tell to some artsy companies.
i'm in london by the way :)

Hi I'm new here.

I found you through Etsy.com. I've tried a few of the artists there, but I really liked this site with cute little dog sewing patterns - do a search for Mod edit - sorry, no advertising until 25 posts.

03-11-2007, 06:22 PM
Hello everyone. I discovered this forum quite by chance when searching the internet for a simple way to cover polystyrene balls for christmas tree ornaments. I can't think how to do it neatly. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

But as an introduction, I'm basically a weaver, but just beginning to run a craft group for people with dementia - hence the need to cover the balls.

One problem I have is that I'm visually impaired, so it makes things a bit more difficult. I'd like to do some embroidery, albeit with coarser wools etc, but need to find a way to mark the fabric with the pattern, so I can embroider it.

However, I didn't want this message to sound like a shopping list of requests. What I really wanted to say was it's good to know crafts are still so popular, and there's still such a lot of enthusiasm out there.

Look forward to plenty of chat.

Hi All,

some few days ago I look for in google about handicraft forum and I find this forum

03-12-2007, 05:19 PM
I was just googling for a few ideas on how to get more involved in craft fairs, public liability insurance and stuff and this place kept coming up!
I figured it would be smart to join up and join in as there was tonnes of useful stuff on here!

11-12-2007, 01:31 PM
I was after a UK based forum for handy craft, well, this site was the first one that came up.

Are gonna look through all the interesting threads soon soon.

Have a nice day!!

I can't remember to be honest, I think I was Googling for something and the answer may have been on here, so I came in, had a look and sort of got lost and can't find my way back out :pc:

But that's ok, cos I have found a nice warm corner to sit in and watch proceedings. :mf:

I too found this site through Google. I was looking up Trade Fairs in my area (Devon). I have never taken my cards to a Craft Fair, so was looking to see if there were any around. There doesnt seem to be, so am thinking of trying to start one up locally. We have a Parish Magazine come once a month, so I may put an advert in there to see if anyone else is interested.

12-01-2008, 03:28 PM
Was doing google search for Craft Fairs in Herts and you came up. Started reading and liked the look of your forum so here I am.

17-01-2008, 03:35 AM
Damian linked this forum to me via a Googlechat conversation this evening. I guess he's not a member here though, or I don't know his ID here, because it wouldn't let me credit him. Thank you for the nudge though, Damian.

Well I'll be a bit different to all you Googlies. I found the forum through swirly's blog page.. Confess I am a bit of a fan (tho' not made any purchases yet). It was the photo of the ironing mountain that had me hooked!!!! Plus I'm a Lindsey too. LOL

23-01-2008, 09:46 AM
HI everyone. I found the forum by looking for Tuggle. I too have been with them for a long time but with very poor results. Trying to comunicate with them is impossible. I simply can not get them to reply to my e-mails. Anyway enough complaining!! I look forward to being a part of this forum.

Hi there, I was just searching for craft fairs in & around the North West and one of my many google-clicks brought me here. I found one of the threads really useful, someone asking all the same questions I have, so I'm hoping this will be a friendly helpful place to be - Shaz:)

24-01-2008, 01:15 PM
Hey there! I found the forum on good old google using the search term 'Craft fairs in Hampshire'.
Best wishes

25-01-2008, 09:47 PM

I was searching for sites related to Crafts. I'm not a crafts person but am interested in Crafts, their history and the way that they are marketed. I'm a member of a few genealogy websites where queries relating to ancestors who were crafts people pop up on a regular basis.

I see that this site is for UK Craftspeople only and would like to know if that includes Northern Ireland as I searched your site for Belfast and obtained a NIL result. Would that be because your site has not yet been found by Belfast crafts people? I've done another search and found Northern Ireland mentioned.

26-01-2008, 12:36 AM
No Christopher - we just have to work out whether NI has decided to be in the UK this decade, or is it the next one? :D

26-01-2008, 01:16 AM
Like many, I was searching for dolls and craft related sites and this came up. Was reading for quite a while before signing up. :)

28-01-2008, 04:14 PM
I googled jewellery blog and you came up.
I'm a jeweller running my gallery in Somerset.
It'll be good to exchange stuff with other creative people.

I was looking for a craft business forum on Google and this website popped up.

I teach papercrafts and design and make wedding stationery. It can be lonely working on your own and I am looking to make some new friends

I was searching for a Hollander beater and a thread from this site jumped right into my lap (Vicar!). So I had to join so that I could talk to the person who had the said beater.
Mind you, now I'm in I will be popping back to check things out.
Must say though that its odd to be described as a junior crafter at my age and with 16 years teaching experience! Makes me feel young again.

Love it! I've learnt so much more about my craft and get inspiration from other peoples ideas.

I was looking for recycled crafts when I came upon this site. I am in the process of setting up a scrapstore and I am compiling as many craft ideas as I can. I am aiming at the primary school market first and will be making up kits to sell as well as opening a shop.

Howdy, search engine directed me to your great forum. I love reading mail sent in by these super crafters. It's very encouraging to know that there are so many crafters here who give advise. Love this forum.:nopity:

Aye, found you in google but Im not good at this forum lark! Just posted a question on dying satin shoes and I have no idea where it went or even if it did go! Will persevere as I love the idea of picking others brains xx

25-06-2008, 05:15 PM
I searched the internet for a craft site to share ideas...and this seemed the best!

27-06-2008, 12:12 PM
I'm quite sensitive - maybe i'm not cut out for this forum lark - but i only joined a while ago and have not posted much as i've been very, very busy. But i've just had my face slapped for asking some simple questions - so i'm going to reverse back out. I am sure that no-one cares a hoot but maybe someone could think that perhaps it is not the best way to attract new people here - perhaps new people are not wanted. I just wanted to meet and chat.
Sorry for joining.

I found these craft forums much the same as everybody else, I googled for craft fairs after my first ( rather badly attended ) craft fair and it came up with the craft fair forum.
Everybody has been lovely since I joined and although I'm not a regular poster I'm normally lurking somewhere, I don't answer many questions as I'm pretty much self taught and really not sure if I'm doing half the stuff right anyway, lol.
I use the suck it and see method...I try till I either get it right or break down in frustrated tears.
Anyway thanks to all the guys and girlies who are always ready to lend an ear and give out tips and advice for free to us all
