Hi - does anyone either have a surplus 4.25mm knitting needle or know where I can purchase one? It's for making rings for chain maille so ideally needs to be metal. I have a feeling this size needle is available in the US but haven't found one in the UK. Thank you. :)

You could try charity shops; that's where I buy some of my knitting needles - only 20p/pair :)
You're right about the US sizing. Here it would be 4 or 4.5mm (Imp. 8 or 7)
Good luck with your search

Thanks Sue, I'll keep on trawling and I'm sure to stumble on one eventually!

I'm kinda assuming that what goes for crochet hooks goes for needles as well. The 4.25mm hook is an american size (also lettered G) usually the conversion charts tell you to use a 4mm hook instead but if you have a tight tension use a 4.5mm. You can buy them on american site or ebay.com.

Good luck
