Question Soy Wax Melts - Uneven finish

Hi Everyone I've been making my own wax melts for some time now and whilst they are great for me, the finished product never looks quite perfect - the bottoms are usually uneven. Any tips for solving this would really be appreciated.
    Thanks 'Yummie'

    Hi,

It really depends on what type of moulds you are using and how big the melts are. Also, by the bottom I assume you mean the ‘top’ of the melt as it is in the mould?

If you use metal moulds for the melts you can give a quick burst from a mini blowtorch (got mine from Dyas for a fiver – refillable and brilliant) and this should level of any imperfections. If you are using polycarbonate or silicone moulds this is not as easy as it may damage the actual mould. With these you may want to heat up a baking tray (an old one!!) and gently rub the melts over the surface to level off and tidy up. Be careful though not too hot and not too long.

    Hi Yummie

What kind of moulds are you using? Have you got any pictures of your uneven bottomed melts so we can see the problem.

    Hi David,
Thanks for the advice and speed at which it came! Went to Dyas & got myself a Mini Blow Torch. Worked a dream Will try the baking tray on the silicone moulds next and let you know the results. Thanks again - a VERY Happy Yummie
