Paying my bead order
I have made an order online yesterday and they just called me and asked my credit card's security code. Does that happen often? I thought that it's enough to enter it when I do my order. This has never happened to me before so I was paranoid and didn't give it...

I saw a report on watchdog that said you weren't to give out this type of information. I haven't ever experienced myself.
Have they told you what will happen now?My Website www.rheadesigns.co.uk

Yes that is odd.
I'm often asked for mine when I place an order over the telephone ....and I'm asked for it on some online forms but it's always been either or.
Can you ring the company (to make sure that's who you are talking to) and ask what the problem is?
There's probably a simple explanation but it is very worrying.
We had our bank querying something on our credit card and we felt like saying we are going to ask you some personal passwordy questions as we don't know you are our bank!

Thanks, that's good to hear.
They wanted to confirm it. If they don't dispatch it, I will simply use another store and cancel that one.

If you ordered online it shouldn't even go to the supplier, the clearing online banks - paypal, protox, worldpay, etc., are the only one's holding your payment details, and even then it's scrambled. The shop should never know any of your card details unless it's done over the phone! So speaks a man who had his card cloned!

I may be talking out of my bum but I don't think that's 100% true Peter - yet! There are a small number of websites (don't know any off hand) that use SSL to capture all the credit card details and then enter it manually on their shop chip n pin machine. However the numbers are very small and it's a bit of a grey area as you're not technically allowed to store anyone's card details on your database - and by doing it this way you're on very thin ice. I think there's some legislation out very soon which will effectively make every webstore capture card details the way Peter explained.
Or at least that's how I understand it from reading very dry information regarding it all.For a large choice of card-making and scrapbooking materials visit http://www.nattynetty.co.uk

I would say never ever just give your details over the phone, i came back from hoildays Sunday to find out that my credit card has been cloned and HUGE amounts of money have been taken out of my account, there has been mail order accounts set up in my name which hundrens of pounds of goods have been ordered. The card comany have been wonderful and said i don't have to pay for what i didn't buy but as for the mail order companys that is a different story, i now have to prove i did not order or receive the goods.
So in short never ever give details out, credit card fraud can happen to any one.

Pauline,I would ask the mail order companies for proof that you have signed for the goods they say you have received, throw it back to them. Good luck
