How to stamp a text on fabric?

Hi everyone

I have searched about this subject for a long time but no answer until now.

I want to rubber stamp a text on a velvet feel fabric, it is not exactly velvet. It does not have a pile and it is flat.

I have already tried to use fabric paint but the result is very bad quality as the paint is thick.

All the rubber stamp sellers said they know nothing about stamping on fabric !!

Do you have any solution?

I know there is a special type of ink that you can buy so that you can stamp onto fabric but I'm afraid I can't remember what it is called.

I have never tried a fabric ink. I have asked a seller on ebay about that and he told me it is too thin for velvet and suggest me to use paint. But paint is not good neither .I am so confused.

Do you know where I can find fabric ink in London? Maybe I can go there and test it directly.

you can use stayzon on fabric as its a permanent dye based ink ive seen it being used and they do quite a few colours

I believe the ink for stamping on fabrics is Fabrico ( Versacraft). You can also stamp and emboss on fabric if you use a Detail embossing powder. I don't think you would be able to wash it though.

Today I received the versacraft inkpad and I tried it on my velvet pouches, it works very well. I am so pleased with the result.

Hi there. I had some velvet like fabric (paper-backed) that I wanted to stamp on and I was told the best way was to use an iron. You place the stamp face up on a hard surface, lay the fabric over it then iron the fabric over the stamp. I can't remember the temperature the iron should be set at so you may have to experiment a bit but it does work. What's more it doesn't damage the stamp either. It gives a nice soft image.

Have you tried 'inking' your stamp with a fabric paint, like you can do with brushmarkers? Sorry if I've misread and this has already been suggested. I know Marabu do fabric paints and outliners - I guess you'd have to check whether they were compatible with the stamp before you did it so it didnt ruin it? But that's my only suggestion!
