Hi

I have 2 pairs of art clay silver cufflinks and I am trying to solder on the sterling silver cufflink fittings. I have tried LOTS of times over 3 days and none of these will solder. I'm not sure whats going wrong.

I am heating up the base piece first and then moving the fitting on to join. However the solder paste just fizzes, splatters and then turns a nasty brown / black. I have tried heating it longer but it just doesn't turn to liquid and solder together. I know exactly what should happen and I've watched on line tutorials etc and have even soldered them ok in the past.

What could it be? Please help as the cufflinks are for a customer and I really need to finish them asap! Am I heating the base piece too much / too little, could paste go off (I've had it a long time).

Please help!
Thanks

Hopscotch.

Play Kerbie.

Say ‘hello’ to a stranger; shake their hand maybe.

Help an old dear across the road whether they’re willing or not.

Make a Super Sandwich of Seemingly Disgusting Stuff. Cut it into a ‘Q’. Eat it with no hands.

Get bouncy on a space hopper down a high street.

Stand rigid at work/in the office and wave a flag; maybe in an shopping centre elevator.

What I'd love is for people to score something on this list off during their day and let us know about it? Maybe add to the list... Go on, have at it (I've been watching too much Vampire Diaries)...

Morning all,

Just wanted to stop by and say hello, I'm new to the forum but though it would be a good place to chat to like minded people.

I'm a lampwork artist and jewellery maker mostly but dabble in lots of different crafts and like to have a go a most things. My time is very limited at the moment as I have a 4 month old daughter so most of my crafting is just for fun. I used to run a bead shop before I started my family but closed it down when I found I was expecting Eva. I get married in 8 weeks and am busy making all my flowers, beaded buttonholes for the wedding party and a bead and button bouquets for myself and my bridesmaids and of course my jewellery!

I hope to pick up lots of inspiration and hints and tips from you all...

Hi all!

I have a problem that needs solving and I thought your community might have the knowledge to help me out.

I do small casts from epoxy resin for jewellery. I was just wondering if anyone knew the best way to seal my pieces so that the finish is durable enough for people to wear them all the time. I also paint small details onto some of the pieces, so this needs to be taken into consideration. I've experimented with a few things but nothing has worked well enough, it needs to be an efficient process too as I will be making a few at a time to sell.

Thanks in advance!

As some of you know i have a silly sense of humour! I have been in mass production with my resin/fimo bottle jar necklaces and have brought ready made labels from a lovely seller on Etsy. I have been designing my own lately and have many already made/about to be made fimo miniatures or anything else i can find to go into my bottles with my own labels. So far i have...Geek DNA, snake socks, anti bed wetting potion (with a real dandelion set in resin) Robot repair kit, Frankenstein's bolt polish, psychic vision, rock paper scissors, vampire sunblock (yes it glitters!) halloween farts, dino poop, distilled rainbow, piranha and chips..... to name but a few. Sooo, i would like to brainstorm (yes i have made brainstorm!) with you all for inspiration please?! I only make one of a kind as a rule but any ideas that i use or incorporate i will make a duplicate and send it to you free of charge as a thank you.

Let the silliness commence!

Hi everyone!
I am new to the craft forum! I knit and sew and make jewellery. I have just started my own business selling the jewellery I make.

I don't really know anyone else who does crafty things, or at least not as much as I do, so it can get a little lonely and its difficult when I need advice. I'd also really like to find out about local craft fairs and other opportunities to meet other crafters.

I was training to teach secondary music until Easter when I quit, and I am also hoping to get some work as a private piano teacher. I also play the cello and trombone, and do a bit of singing. So I keep pretty busy! :)

This seems like a nice community to get in to. If you want to know any more about me please ask!

xx

OK, I'm going to open an online card shop in a couple of months and I was trying to think of a tagline. Most of my cards are going to be fun/funny/silly/quirky/cheesy so I didn't want a serious tagline. The card shop is called the Card Connoisseur and I thought maybe a tagline of 'Posh Cards for Peasants' ....but I don't know if that will make my business stnd out in a good way or a bad way! I think it's funny but I just wanted to test the waters!

I have a back-up tagline but it's a bit corny.
