Ordered my new sewing machine yesterday and it was delivered this morning - great, I thought. Set it up to explore its capabilities and the first thing I tried turned out to be faulty. Rang the company and was told I would have to speak to the service dept. on Monday. So angry about this.

Ooooh, that is so frustrating!
And doesn't it always happen on a week-end?!

Make sure you give them what-for on Monday! :slap:

Thank you both, if they get funny about it, I will certainly let them know my feelings. So frustrating being unable to get in touch 'til Monday. Grrrr!!!

Oh its the pits when you've probably been looking forward to the weekend playing with it. And Monday seems so far away at times like that, just like when we were kids and it seemed like Xmas was forever away, even when it was only 3 days off! :)

Couldn't you just cry when things like that happen!!! I ordered some card making stuff from America and yesterday and today I was so sure it would arrive but it didn't. No post until Monday now. I hate no post days. I'm like a kid I still look forward to the postman each morning. I feel gutted if there is nothing for me at all! Even a circular would do !!! Sad isn't it!!!! Sue.xx:o

Just make sure you don't tell them you're using it for business purposes like I once did, because they'll turn round and tell you you've invalidated your warranty.

Thanks for all your messages everybody. I've re-read all their blurb and it seems as though they have get out clauses all over the place. I shall be ready for them tomorrow!
JBJB - I see that they actually say that if you have a cottage industry and sell your wares, it invalidates any guarantee. What a cheek! I, of course, only wanted a new machine to make some curtains for our lounge. ;)

How did you get on????

Hi, well I rang again and spoke to a man (don't know who he was or what his position in the company) but he was so rude. I explained the fault and he more or less told me I could fix it myself. I warned him not to get nasty with me and he just shouted "did I want to know what to do or not". I snapped back, he told me what to do and put the phone down.

Maybe I just caught him on a bad day, eh?

Anyway, the machine seems to be working now but I have grown to hate it now as it reminds me of him. :fencing:

No, it`s def not you!! It`s a long story but I actually got banned from (where I think!! Without actually metioning it!) the site you bought your machine from!!!

Hope the machine is working better now. Just think, you have saved that poor sewing machine from the clutches of a nasty man!

I think I know which site it is too.....

Does it rhyme with "Hooper" ?

You`ve got it! Not an ambassador for excellent customer service to say the least!

In a peverted way, I'm quite glad to hear that that is the way they speak to all their customers .... not just me.

Seems such a shame because I bought my original overlocker from them and it was fantastic ... maybe that says more about the product though.

I suppose if you pay peanuts for something, you can expect to get monkeys!

Hi, at least you've made me smile again - and yes, it is a company that one might think made barrels!
I should have known though - even the text on their website shouts at you.
I suppose I must try the machine again though - used my old Brother today and the thread kept breaking and it made me realise why I wanted a new one.
Why am I feeling so nervous about the new one? Will it shout at me? :D

woohooooo, I had a run in with the same guy, he shouted at me and I called him a potty mouth and asked him does he kiss his mother with that vile mouth, I think i stunned him into silence. He called me a mouthy b**** I just laughed and called him a bitter little man with no manners.

What gets me is the fact that this person can treat people with utter contempt whilst getting rich from their custom.
I had to save up for a new machine and wish I had seen the comments from a consumer action group about this company beforehand. I'm surprised they are still trading.

Trading Standards - dont mess about.

Dont matter what it is, it should be fit for the purpose which it is made for and the money you paid. Glad its not me (or rather they would be) their feet wouldnt touch the ground. We dont complain enough in this country, it wouldnt be stood for in the USA or the continent

Hope your feeling a bit better about it all but please dont let them mess you about
