Hi everyone,

Myself and my husband handcraft and design greetings cards, wedding stationery and candles, and we're currently looking for outlets for our products.

For around eight to ten months now we've been looking for local craft fairs but are having trouble finding many locally and most of the ones we come across (ie. Trentham Gardens) are pre-booked months in advance and only ever have the same exhibitors which doesn't help us any.

Does anyone know of any craft fairs, spring/easter fairs or anything similar where we could exhibit our goods locally to the Stoke/Staffordshire area?

All help is appreciated.

Kindest regards,

Laura & Gordon x

Littlegems on the forum is looking into organising his/her own in Sutton Coldfield. Search for the thread if that's not too far for you to travel and pm him/her.
I'm sure if you search Staffs craft fairs you'll get some other suggestions coming up.

Thank you, I've now emailed Littlegems :)

Sadly there doesn't seem to be many events in this area - but I plan to keep looking ;)

I'll keep watching this thread too as I'd be interested in any fairs in Staffordshire too.

Yeah there is a monthly two day craft fair held in the Trentham Gardens pavillion which is organised by John Beresford, I've contacted him a few times but he only deals with the people who have attended since the beginning and already has a waiting list of people waiting for places at the fairs, and isn't willing to take any more names now.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much happening in this area at all.

A few people have suggested that I look into organising a craft fair myself but to be honest I wouldn't know where to start lol.

I went to the last craft fair at Trentham Gardens (as a visitor I didn't have a stall) and it seemed to me that there was loads of "empty" spaces, could have fitted quite a few more stalls in. Also there were a few commercial stalls which put me off a bit (eg Aloe Vera Gel stall - how is that art & craft?).

Was that the one on 9th and 9th March by any chance? I went down to the event on the Saturday and wasn't very impressed this time either, especially when my other half heard the guy selling the so-called home brewed beers and ales telling someone that he buys them in from a larger company to sell at these events - we bought from this guy before Christmas and were led to believe they were his own products.

Maybe my expectations are too high, but I wasn't impressed with their March event.

I have only just found this forum but would just like topoint out that Trentham is a Craft, gift and Food Fair.

Also, John only allows a certain number of stalls selling the same thing. Would it be fair to others, yourselves or the public if there were loads of stalls all selling the same thing?

I know I would not be impressed if I went to an event and found loads of stalls all selling the same as myself, how would you make a living?

Dear All

I have posted previously about trying to organise a fair but due to working full time etc & now also trying to apply for promotion, haven't got as far with it as I had hoped.

If you are interested in helping then I will certainly devote more time to it. Please pm me & I will start the ball rolling as I think there is a severe shortage in local fairs.

I have already received a pm & even I haven't repsonded yet, I will do shortly.

I would be interested and will keep an eye on this thread. I do wildlife, pet & faerie art, prints & greetings cards and have my web sites but a craft fair would be a nice alternative.
