E-mail selling

Is it possible to sell via e-mail, how do you handle their credit cards and stuff or do you ask them to send you a cheque or what. I am going to do some personalised cards and gifts and stuff so I need to be able to sell the items via e-mail so I know what the people want. Can anyone help me with this?

You can get them to pay you using a paypal account or google checkout, that way no bank details need to be exchanged you just give the buyer your email address.
