I am a mad keen crafter - into hand bag making, beadwork and more recently scrapping! The problem is I start so many projects yet never get round to finishing them! "It's what you call work in progress" i explain to my husband who continually watches me pass by him with yet another project on the go? Am I the only one who never finishes anything?
I would love to be so organised that I could put all my work (COMPLETED in the night, possibly by the craft fairy!) together and have a go at a craft fair. Anyway for some reason she never pays me a visit.
I am however organising (which is something I AM good at) a large Craft fair in west sussex for April / May for all those other crafters who are a lot more organised than me. I shall be having approx 30+ craft stands and will be advertising in local newspapers, local radio and of course thos v. important road signs. Having years ago helped my parents do Antique fairs I know how important it is for the organiser to advertise the event well so stallholders be sure to get maximum attendance.
Just to run the idea past you this fair is going to be aimed at, dare i say it (Yummy Mummies!) - the reason being that the stalls will be selling girly things - such as jewellery, handbags, organic food, knit wear, cards etc which will appeal to everyone female. (I apologise if their are any laddy daddies who might feel left out) but perhaps they might like to bring their wives, girlfriends or mum for a day out to the fair and treat them! I am planning to charge £55 for a stall in order to cover the costs of venue hire,(this will be in a large hotel or other, Not, a small village hall!) advertising etc. It may seem a lot but believe me it barely covers all costs. Also I will be donating money to the Macmillan Cancer Research from the event. What do you think? If anyone knows of anyone who might be interested and who have unique girlie products let me know!

For every project I do manage to finish it seems like there's a hundred more that never go anywhere! I can't discipline myself to do one thing at a time. I either get bored of the first one and start scribbling and sketching out ideas for the next one or I already know what the next project is and I get too excited to finish the first one!

Good luck with the fair. Too far away for me too I'm afraid. Shame it's not July as I'm visiting my Nana in Horsham then!

Hi there, I would be interested. Let me know the details. You can either contact me via my website (see signature) or through the forum.

I am the same, my head is always racing ahead with ideas for the next project while I'm still completing the first one. I usually do finish things, but by the time I have I'm thoroughly bored! I've discovered my short attention span is perfect for making small items...I started quilting, I did manage to make my cat a nice quilt which she loves, but that takes serious time and bags of patience!

It is great to organize a craft fair, hectic too and appreciate the cost. However Antique Fairs are not the same as craft fairs, and can sometimes demand more table fee's. Most craft events that I have been to around my way Hampshire are £15 to £50 for small fairs £80 a day for larger ones going over two days. I would say keep it under £50, say £45 - sounds better, and have one more table to cover the difference. Depends on the time of the event 10am till about 4pm... or just afternoon or morning. However you are right with the price for Antique fairs, they seem to be £55 plus. Good Luck. Is there a charge to go in - people somtimes don't like paying too much around £5 - the more they spend to go in the less they spend inside! Any other crafters have thoughts on this.

(welcome) Hi and welcome (or should I say croeso from Wales)
I am just like you as regards geting things finished but I do eventually.
Unfortunately I'm too far away to visit your craft fair, but I wish you well with it. Recently, forum members have been reporting that craft fairs have been disappointing due to stallholders buying goods in and not actually making them. Will you be taking this into account, as visitors to craft fairs also get disappointed if they feel that they are visiting there to meet actual craftspeople? Also, will you be limiting types of stalls so that you get a good range of crafts? Please let us know how it all goes.
Best Wishes,
Tina
