Running competitions at fairs

Just thought I'd share this with you in case its useful, if not, bin it!

I've only done 2 craft fairs so am hardly experienced but, at both, I've ran a little free competition to generate potential names I can always go back to

At last Saturdays Preston fair, I got 22 names entered and I'm about to contact 3 of them to say they've won - prize is a personalised Kaleidescope hanging bauble with their chosen photo on value approx £4.99

Out of the 22 names, about 14 have provided their email addresses so that makes follow-up offers a bit cheaper & easier to do on my part but at least I do have postal addresses and/or tel numbers for the remainder anyway

I know its no secret of success - at my first fair, I got 38 names and did a follow up mailshot offering them 10% discount off their first order - and got diddly squat response! :p but you never know, if I try again another time, I might just get something?

Worth a try anyway - I'll keep you posted if I get any better response when I go back to my Preston fair names! :)

Now I'm just gonna have a more detailed look at Incy's post about competition rules, the link starts by seeming to apply to online competitions but I never thought of adding much "official" to my little competition cardboard box except that it was free to enter and that 3 names would be chosen at random after the event and said what the prize was...

....in this day and age, maybe I need a bigger box and add things like "if you're so excited by entering this competition that you fall over and bump your head on my stall leg, Focus on Life will not be held responsible financially or morally for the resulting bump that appears on your head or the bruise on your nether regions..." :mf:
