also is etsy the best place to sell the stuff you make

I'd say a good place for you to start is reading as many of the forum threads as you can, their sections & titles are really easy to identify and you'll be able to read some real experiences of so many possible selling venues it'll blow your mind - although you're probably not gonna find "one" best place, you will see lots of options, Etsy being just one

Shaz is absolutely right. You may find that a site that works for one seller might not be so great for another and vice versa.
I've only recently started out too and my advice would be to stay focused and take your time feeling your way around the different sites. I've tried to stick all my fingers in all the pies at the same time and I'm starting to feel a bit frazzled trying to remember what I've got for sale and where!
